Do you want to dominate? Turn into an example of purity and holiness abiding by what Jesus taught:

• “The hand of the hard worker shall bear rule, but the lazy shall be under service.” (Prov 12:24).

Certainly, most of the people know the following verse (chiefly the religious leaders):

• “Let every soul be subject to the higher authorities. For there is no authority but of God; the authorities that exist are ordained by God. So that the one resisting the authority resists the ordinance of God; and the ones who resist will receive judgment to themselves.” (Rom 13:1,2).

Nevertheless, it is important tell apart between “authority” and “authoritarian”.

Authority is someone that is under the law (in our case, of the law of Christ’s love), who serve of example for Jesus’ Church (see 1Peter 5:1-3) or, if you prefer, someone that rule well, who labor in Word and doctrine (1Tim 5:17) and watch for the souls that Jesus put in their life (Heb 13:17). It is someone that is acquainted with the word of righteousness (Heb 5:13) and, in virtue of the practice, they have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil (Heb 5:13,14).

It is necessary to work hard our patience and perseverance so that we can be found worthy of receive the privilege of caring for the herd of Christ:

• “Therefore so says Jehovah, If you turn back, then I will bring you again; you shall stand before Me. And if you take the precious from the worthless, you shall be as My mouth. Let them turn back to you, but do not return to them.” (Jer 15:19);
• “So says Jehovah of Hosts: If you will walk in My ways, and if you will keep My charge, then you shall also judge My house, and shall also keep My courts, and I will give you places to walk among these who stand by.” (Zec 3:7).

It comes the question: how are our spiritual clothes? I hope that outright different from Joshua’s, the high-priest (Zech 3:1).

If we are lackadaisical in clean out our spiritual apparel, never we will be authority. The maximum that lazy people reach is to be authoritarian. Although they can achieve great deeds and occupy great offices, they always will reap hatred, disparage, malediction of those who are exploited by them.

The true authorities didn’t need to strain to oblige people to comply with them. Everyone that is wise has delight in abiding by what they decree because they see wisdom and love in all their decisions, beyond seeing the efficacy of them in their testimony of life.

So, if someone that is under your cares (whether a child, employee, etc.) aren’t obeying you (or only do this when you are seeing), don’t haste to name them rebel, pertinacious, etc. Seek in Christ why they refuse to subject to you. Perhaps:

1. you need to review your concepts and values;
2. you need to know well the face of your flocks; set your heart on your herds (Prov 27:23) so that you can see their limitations, feebleness and fails;
3. you aren’t following Jesus’ will. Otherwise, when a man's ways please Jehovah, He makes even his enemies to be at peace with him (Prov 16:7). After all, His will is good, perfect and pleasant (Rom 12:2).

So, don’t be lazy in maturing in faith. Have a good day being changed, from glory to glory, into the image of the Creator (namely, Jesus Christ). Doing this, you will reflect Jesus’ glory. Thereby, everyone who consents to live where you are will be separated for the exclusive use of the Creator (see 1Cor 7: 13,14; 2Cor 3:18).
