Luke 2:45 KJV “And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.”

There is a great lesson in the story of Jospeh and Mary with Jesus on the way back to their home. They have assumed that he is within the company they are travelling with, and they begin to look for him among their kin. They can’t find him. They head back to Jerusalem to continue their search, no doubt frantically.

Many in the church assume this too. They think oh Jesus is here, and this is a Spirit filled church! We don’t have to worry! (This is not to say that there are not some churches where people have the Spirit of Jesus, and a personal relationship with Him.) What if they are just assuming, like Mary and Joseph? What if they don’t have HIM right in their sights, and they don’t have a personal relationship with the LORD? What if they realize they don’t, and panic sets in, what then? We are going to see this start happening in Christanity.

People are going to assume Christ is in their midst. They will not even realize He is not there. HE will be out of their sights. They will panic, and they will want to find Him, and when and if they do, HE will ask them, like HE asked Mary and Joseph, Why did you not know where to find me? Did you not know I would be doing my Father’s work?

We are commanded to always be watching, to always have our eyes on Christ, to always be about HIS work until He returns. So what is this work? Jesus says in John 6:29 KJV “Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.”

The gift of belief and faith changes us inside. We become part of the vine. We spread the Good News that we have a Saviour, who died and rose again for the entire world. These gifts bear fruit! No work required! It comes naturally because who we now are, part of the BODY of CHRIST!

So, don’t loose sight of the LORD on the way back home, keep your eyes on HIM, and stay connected to the Vine!

All Glory and Honour is yours Almighty Father through your Son, JESUS CHRIST!
