How are we hearing Jesus’ instructions?

  • “Take fast hold of instruction; do not let go; keep her; for she is your life.” (Proverbs 4.13).

Are we hearing Jesus like Martha (busied and distracted in several affairs) or like Mary (who left everything and sat at Jesus' feet and heard His word with much appreciation until the end – Luke 10.39-40)?

  • “Therefore be careful how you hear. For whoever has, to him shall be given; and whoever has not, from him shall be taken even that which he seems to have.” (Luke 8.18).
  • “Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they see not, and hearing they hear not; nor do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah which said, "By hearing you shall hear and shall not understand; and seeing you shall see and shall not perceive; for this people's heart has become gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and they have closed their eyes, lest at any time they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.". But blessed are your eyes, for they see; and your ears, for they hear.” (Matthew 13.13-16).

Why do we attend meetings of Creator’s people?

  • Because we are feeling loneliness and needy?
  • To find a fun moment (praises fraught of gusto and lively conversation with friends)?
  • To procure ken in order to feel superior to the others and to strife, debate, and strike with fist of wickedness (Isaiah 58.4)?
  • To learn methods of taking hold of material wealthes?
  • To try to haggle with the Creator in exchange of boons?
  • To try to buy the salvation?

Or because we know how good is His presence in our lives and, for this, we crave for everything that make us useful in His hands? So, if you pine for being an instrument to manifest the multiform grace and savvy of the Creator to principalities and potentates (Ephesians 3.10; 1Peter 4.10), ask Jesus to fill your heart with vehement desire to meditate and fulfill His Word, and wisdom to teach and fear It.
