How can we define Jesus’ Church?
1 – Lamb’s Bride (Revelation 19:7,9; 21:9) – Those who delight in the presence of the Creator (Psalms 37:4; Habakkuk 3:19) and serve Him for love, having as reward the privilege of staying in His presence (Gen 15:1; John 3:39; see the analogy in 1Kings 10:8) instead of material blessings.
2 – Christ’s Body (Romans 7:4; 1Cor 10:16; 1Cor 12:27; Eph 4:12) – those who are being used by the Holy Spirit to make up the Book of the Life of the Lamb (Phil 4:3; Rev 3:5; 13:8; 17:8; 20:15; 21:27). That is to say, those who present their bodies how a living sacrifice, holy, pleasant to the Creator (Rom 12:2), so that He can manifest His strength (2Chr 16:9), wisdom (Eph 3:10) and Grace (1Peter 4:10).
3 – The Creator’s husbandry (1Cor 3:9): those who are a fertile ground where Jesus can sow the Fruit of His Spirit (see John 15:8; Galatians 5:22).
4 – The Creator’s Building (1Cor 3:9): those who…
• “… as living stones are built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ.” (1Peter 2:5).
5 – Kingdom of kings and priests (Rev 1:6; 5:10).
Pay attention that nothing is said about a kingdom of prophets (it’s good to remember that, in the Old Testament, the Creator used priests, kings and prophets to bless people). And the reason is this:
• “And they shall not each man teach his neighbor, and each man his brother, saying, Know the Lord, for all shall know Me, from the least to the greatest.” (Heb 8:11).
Everybody that believe in Jesus Christ has communion with Him (1John 2:27), is guided by Him (Rom 8:14), is taught by Him (John 6:44,45; Eph 4:20,21; 1John 2:27). Hence there is no reason for a prophet (or leastwise it wasn’t to). If we are not hearing the Creator’s voice, this is sign that our faith isn’t so good as it should be (see Deut 28:1,2; Mat 11:15; 13:9,43; Mark 4:9; Luke 14:35; Rev 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13;22).
Nonetheless, everyone needs to intercede for the others (like a priest – see Ezek 22:30), to reign on the sin and be a witness in the life of others (see 1Peter 5:1-3). After all, the Church was named by Jesus as…
6 – House of prayer (Isaiah 56:7; Luke 19:46), that is to say, our life should be the place where everyone can speak to Jesus and hear His voice. In other words, we need to be a place of relationship with the Creator.
So, have a good weekend enjoying Jesus’ intimacy, manifesting His light (Mat 5:14-16), being His nourishment in the life of those who are starving for the Bread of Life (John 6:35,48), always ready to convey words full of grace, seasoned with salt (Col 4:6) so that everyone can be built up in faith and sanctified for the exclusive use of the Creator through you (see 1Cor 7:12-14; 2Cor 3:18).
