Nobody can pretend ignorance in order to excuse their sins (part 5):

Fourth point to consider: the value of the wisdom:

  • "Does not wisdom call?... She cries... Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For Wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it." (Proverbs 8:1,3,10,11).
  • "Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gets understanding. For the profit from it is better than the gain from silver, and its produce more than fine gold; she is more precious than rubies; and all the things you can desire are not to be compared with her." (Pro 3:13-15).
  • “But where shall wisdom be found? And where is the place of understanding? Pure gold cannot be given in its stead, and silver be weighed as its price. It cannot be weighed against the gold of Ophir, against precious onyx, or sapphire; gold and the crystal cannot equal it, nor can it be exchanged for a vessel of fine gold. No mention shall be made of coral, or of pearls; and the price of wisdom is above rubies. The topaz of Ethiopia cannot equal it; it cannot be weighed against pure gold.” (Job 28:19)

But, why the Wisdom is so costly?

  • "yea, if you cry after knowledge and lift up your voice for understanding; if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures, *then you shall understand the fear of Jehovah and find the knowledge of God*." (Prov 2:3-5).

And why the fear of the Creator is so precious?

  • "The fear of Jehovah is a fountain of life to turn aside from the snares of death." (Pro 14:27);
  • "By mercy and truth, iniquity is purged, and by the fear of Jehovah men turn away from evil." (Pro 16:6) - recall that the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23).
  • "The fear of Jehovah tends to life, and he rests satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil." (Pro 19:23).
  • "By humility and the fear of Jehovah are riches and honor and life." (Pro 22:4).

In virtue of this, have a good day abiding by this:

  • "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding." (Pro 23:23).
