What has been is what will be.

What has been done is what will be done.

There is nothing new under the sun.
– Ecclesiastes 1:9

It’s the glory of God to hid things, but to search them out is the glory of kings (and queens) - Proverbs 25:2. Full understanding is hidden, but God seeks to know if anyone is willing enough to dig deeper and find it...so I started digging.

What is there worth knowing from the OT that many of us – me included – have passed off as "done away"? Well it turns out, there’s a LOT. And it’s almost scary how perfectly many passages match together with what's going on. I’m now convinced all of scripture is prophetic, not just the prophetic books.

Isaiah 46:10 says..
I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.
In other words, God said he’s told everything he’s going to do from the beginning, because he’s going to do whatever he wants to do. And who can stop him? Awesome.

Well based on that understanding I hope I can share a few parallels (some will be familiar and some may not be).

Christ, The Firstborn (prophesied by Israel)

1. Israel is called God's "first born" (Exodus 4:22)
1. Christ is called God's "first born" (Colossians 1:18)

2. Israel passes through the Reed sea
2. Christ is baptized in the Jordan river

3. The Spirit of God descends on Israel at Mt. Sinai
3. The Spirit of God descends on Christ as a dove

4. Israel is led into the wilderness and tried for 40 years
4. Christ is lead into the wilderness and tried for 40 days

5. Purified of all faithlessness Israel enters Promised Land (their Kingdom)
5. Passing tests, Christ begins preaching the Kingdom of God (the promise)

...Pretty straight forward, right?

Corruption of The Church (prophesied by Israel)

1. Joshua (Hebrew "Yahshua") led 12 tribes into Promise Land
1. Christ (Hebrew "Yahshua") led 12 apostles into The Kingdom of God

2. 12 Tribes grew into many clans, each w/own leaders (judges)
2. 12 Apostles grew into many churches, each w/own leaders (bishops)

3. A (king) Saul unifies clans under one banner
3. A Paul (Hebrew "Saul") unifies churches under one structure

4. Saul causes paganism to infiltrate kingdom by not killing pagans as commanded
4. Paul causes paganism to infiltrate church by integrating Roman religious structure

5. A (king) David restores the glory of Israel's kingdom
5. We await our Davidic king to restore the glory of The Church

By the way the italics color is what we can conclude MUST happen next to fulfill scripture. We await our Davidic king; Christ as Messiah ben David.

The Trial of The Church's Faith (prophesied by Christ)

1. Christ (God's "first born") is baptized in the Jordan river
1. Christ (God's "first born") dies & resurrects

2. The Spirit of God descends on Christ as a dove
2. The Holy Spirit descends on Body of Christ as tongues of fire (Pentecost)

3. Christ is lead into the wilderness and tried for 40 days
3. Body of Christ is tried by Satan for 40 jubilees (2000 years)

4. Passing tests, Christ begins preaching the Kingdom of God
4. We await the Body of Christ to pass the test and usher in the Kingdom of God

This shows that even Christ’s ministry prophesied what would happen to his body (i.e. the Church). As Christ passed the test in the wilderness, so must the Church pass its test.

From this parallel we can also conclude the following:

Remember, God said because of faithlessness of "Israel" he would NOT let them enter into his promised "rest" (Heb 3:11) and instead they would continue to die going around and around in circles in life.

Well Christ is "Israel" (our 1st parallel), and we are his body...thus we're the body of "Israel", so these 40 jubilees have been *our* wilderness period where we will continue to walk in circles in life until we finally have true faith in God...or we'll die like the rest of the congregation.

In the mean time, we continue to eat a daily bread that we don’t really understand (i.e. Man-na = “what is it?”). We're not allowed to eat of the "fruit" of the kingdom until we enter in.

----

There are MANY more prophetic parallels like this in the scriptures and I hope to share more with you very soon.

Feel free to comment on what you think about these examples and my conclusions.

Be Blessed!
