If only one parent is Christian. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 7:14, that the children of Christians are clean.
This is actually an argument for infant baptism too. Not by Paul, but by logic.

No..

One becomes a Christian when they believe Jesus and trust that the Atonement Jesus secured by His death on the cross pays the penalty for their transgressions against the will of God..

And the clean he is referring to is to do with not being unclean as in legitimate.. It has nothing to do with being Redeemed / saved..

Don't you know in the OT illegitimate Children where not allowed into the Temple because being illegitimate made them unclean..

Now as a innocent little one they have eternity with God if they die because they still being innocent at the time of their deaths have no need for the atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ to cover their sins.. Since they have no sins needing coverage..

So little ones who die before they reach the age of the knowledge of good and evil are automatically acceptable to be with God in eternity no matter of their parents are Christian Hindu's atheists or Shintoists..

Can one be a Christian at birth?
Hello Lon1934, I suppose the first question to ask is, "what's a Christian"? The literal definition of "Christian" (if memory serves) is a "follower of Christ". So, I guess the question to ask yourself right out of the starting gate is this,

1) Is a newborn baby capable of "following Christ"

That might be followed by other, similar questions I suppose, like these:

2) Can a newborn "know" Jesus
3) Can a newborn know and understand His word, or the law (any law, in fact, even the one that God wrote on the newborn's heart)
4) Can a newborn baby come to saving faith in Christ for their future selves, believing/trusting as newborns that when they are a bit older and need a Savior to make atonement for their sins, that He will be there for them

Like @Adstar just said above, I believe unborn children, newborn babies and young children who die will go to be with the Lord, whether or not they are baptized in water, because I do not believe that there is a basis for their judgment and condemnation by God at that age.

So a newborn can be saved (I suppose you could say), but I do not believe that he/she can become a Christian.

Romans 2
12 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law.
13 For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God’s sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.
14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law,
15 since they show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts now accusing, now even defending them.)
16 This will take place on the day when God will judge men’s secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.

You have to be born again. Are YOU born again?
Born again doesnt necessarily mean your own parents are christians. It means YOU are spiritually reborn and you call God your Father. You can only be born again if you believe that Jesus Christ is the son of God and died on the cross for your sins, and rose again.

Do you believe this?

Hi Lon
The Bible says you must be born again.
I believe all children go to Heaven if they die; but there comes an age of accountability; like when in the times of Moses, those above a certain age were held accountable and did not enter the promised Land.
Having Christian parents will not get you into Heaven; only believing on the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting in His precious blood, and knowing Him will get you in, because He said, "I am the way, the truth and the life, no-one comes to the Father except by me."
Seek Him while it is still today, for we do not know when He will return for those who love Him. For those who do not, there is the Judgement and an eternity in Hell, because they rejected the very Son of God who loved them and gave Himself to suffer and die for their sakes.
I hope I have been a help to you and that one day I see you in Heaven.
Kind regards
Butterfly

Absolutely not. A child needs to be able to know and learn about Jesus, and who He is and be able to accept Him as their Lord and Savior. Babies lack this ability..

As an adult you leave the umbrella of your parents. There is one way to know if you are a Christian. Do you believe? Simple enough. I venture to say you do believe but struggle with wanting to reject, and placate the flesh. That's just a guess and as I keep to my own personal saying. I could be wrong, I have been before.

Having parents who are Christians greatly increases the likelihood that the child will grow up learning about Jesus and will accept Him early in life, but it does not guarantee it. The child must eventually make a decision for him/herself.

Fortunately, becoming a Christian is simple and straightforward: believe that Jesus (God incarnate) has paid the penalty for your sin on the cross, that He died and was buried, and that He rose again from the dead.

Tell God you believe in His Son for your salavation Lon, tell Him you are sorry for any sin against Him and ask Him to forgive you. Ask Him to come into your life- tell Him you want to really know Him and belong to Him. He loves you so much He died for you. It is the most important thing you will ever do.
Try and find a Church where they are truly born again, and where the people know Him. Don't let anything stop you going there regularly, and be blessed😊

Getting baptized doesn't save you. Faith and belief in Jesus through His grace is what saves you.

Agree ... simple Gospel, too often it becomes about remorse but remorse saves no one.
