Today, the new generation hardly hear the word “Family Altar”. Probably they may even say what is that. Some reading this too may ask what is it. Yet when we read in scripture how important it is for us to pass on from one generation to the other values from the Word of God.
It is a known fact that a Sunday morning spiritual feed is what most people get. Say just 30 mins. The fast lane life is unable to keep the mid-week bible study appointments. Where do adults and children get spiritual food from. Ah!! Quiet Time. Even this people may ask what is this. Personal Time with God is diminishing. What is left is the family altar. Families coming together either in the morning or evening and spending family time with God.
We read in Hebrews Ch 11 vs 9 – 11 it goes like this;
8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. 9 By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God.
The simple truth I want you my dear sister and brother to read and understand is – Abraham by faith obeyed and made his home in the promised land. For Isaac and Jacob to continue, imagine the input that was put in by the parent to the child. One generation to the other. Family Altar is a place to pass on values from scripture from one generation to the other.
Remember, it just takes one generation to walk away from the truth and that can be a permanent loss if not for God’s Grace.
If you are not having a family altar at home, start one today. Invest in eternity. That is where your citizenship is.
