In light of things like Luke 14:26 and 1 Corinthians 7, what is the basis for Christian family values?

We are to be brothers and sisters divine, but I don't see anything else?

Not being funny but getting mixed up in worldly things is always distracting.

Matthew 24:19 is another

It seems a bad idea to be thinking of having children

Having children today has to be the plan of God as HE knew us while formed in our mother's womb. Standing by and allowing sin to rule the earth and not speak out and stand against it is far worst than bring a child into it.

When I see the children running up and down our education annex, I see the future of our community, and I thank God that we are able to keep His message growing.

i think a lot of people have been saying that since the last century because it has been the most violent worldwide, two world wars, nuclear weapons, large scale poisoning...political instabilty

Unless God give us the go ahead (he did for the Israelites when they were exiled to Babylon) sometimes its not prudent to raise a family in the midst of war, captivity or apartheid. Ask the Red Cross or save the children...or any of the relief agencies.

As christians we do seek to be the peacemakers, not the warmongers. So if we actively seek peace, we need to take steps to ensure it is a world where children can sleep at night, safe in their own beds.
