The nintendo switch is a hand held console that you can also hook up to a big screen. You can play all sorts of games there.
Xbox u can only play at home. Both has pros and cons but i think the Switch is better because you can take it places and play with friends as well more easily. I sometimes take it to friends and we play mario kart and stuff.

In the end it depends which games your teen likes. If he or she is more into big games like assasins creed, shooters or similar things the Xbox is better. If he or she likes fun party games like super mario the switch is better. Also building games and stuff

As Demi mentioned it depends what your teen likes.

Nintendo switch is more portable and it’s games are more family friendly typically.

xbox is not mobile and portable but it’s games are rated teen or mature.

thanks guys, she will be 13 so im thinking more family friendly type games than mature games for now. i used to game decades ago so really dont know what the kids are doing these days. so is switch just a one player game and xbox still a 2 player game?

Switch is a multiplayer game. 8 players actually. Same for Xbox (i think).
When i say 8 players, i mean 8 actual players in one room with 8 controllers.
But a person can play online with other players and that would be “single player” in my view because you’re not playing with someone present in your room but with a random person on the internet.

Eli1 is switch a game that the mulitple players can put on the tv screen or is that just the other s, xbox etc.
switch sounds interesting and im leaning towards it if you can play the game on the big screen and if its cheaper to get two switch controllers vs 1 xbox with two controllers.

The Nintendo Switch and Xbox are both consoles that can be hooked up to the TV via an HDMI cable.
The Nintendo switch also has the option to play without a TV which is its main selling point.
Besides the rating differences, you might also see price differences and sales depending on where you are.
In U.S. both Nintendo Switch and Xbox have promotions and sales which include a device with a lot of storage space (1 Terrabyte), a free game and 2 controllers for a price of around $500 to $800 which is a good deal because if you were to get all those things separately (controllers and games) it would be more.

So look for a bundle deal basically if it exists where you live.

what, they couldnt make up their own fun?

I just got chess...its like a board with black and white squares, it has pieces and you can play with 2 people.

Or a pack of cards. Just a plain pack of cards is like $10

Cards is multiplayer and theres 100s of card games you can play.

Don't need a console and can play cards anywhere.

I find consoles fun for generally playing with at least one other person in the room. Solo gaming doesn't interest me much anymore.

I dont mind playing solo with a horror game but yeah I agree its much more fun with multiple players. Takes me back to when I used to play Golden Eye years ago, four of us having a blast!
