Last year my wife and I moved the plant shown from a small pot to the yard. We were quite surprised that it grew as fast as it did. The area circled in red was what we moved. All the dark growth to the right is what grew last year. The stalks marked with a blue dot are what has grown this year.

The potted plants growth was restricted by the pot. Much as we can be growth restricted by man made rules, habitual sin - the list of restrictions goes on. When the restriction was dealt with, strong growth occured.

My scripture reference is Matt 15:9
But in vain they do worship me, teaching
for doctrines the commandments of men.

On a side note, please note that the new stalk right frame though broken for about 3 weeks still grows.

Where do you live? I had no idea anyone in North America could grow a mother-in-law's tongue plant outside. And without a pot? Way cool!

Except, how deep do the roots grow? Because it looks like it's going to get away from you, like bamboo, and take over your yard.

My yard is cement, so I've got no choice but have a container garden. What's cool about how we can restrict plants is the tomato. Grow it in an 8 inch pot, and you get about 3 tomatoes off it. It just has no more space to keep growing, and new tomatoes come off new growth. Grown in a painter's bucket (5-gallon bucket) and you get 5-7 feet of plant constantly growing. BUT in the earth, the same plant truly becomes indeterminate. 10 feet or more.

I suspect that says something about how big earth is. We're supposed to have dominion even over the plants, but we all need enough room to grow.

Without him, we're held back without even noticing it. That three-tomato plant never does know it was held back, just like we didn't until God grounded us.

Gen. 1:28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.
