Hi all,

I have a difficult question, maybe. I believe there is a heaven and a hell because in the gospels Jesus tells us so. I am the only believer in my family and in the past I almost killed our marriage trying to convert my wife. Our marriage was saved but my family was not. I try to live an exemplary life but no-one will start to believe. How do you guys deal with such a thing?

I understand your situation . I am the only christian in my family. My family knows what i believe and i have shared the gospel with them . All i can do is pray for them to come to know Jesus.

I'd say step one is rearrange your thinking. You're, in a sense, trying to play God and assuming you have the power to change people. You can't. God can't even guarantee this without breaking free will.
People have the right to choose, and can be influenced by a number of factors which can affect this decision and you living a life You view as "exemplary" can't change those reasons.
90% of a Christian's work is showing and watering, not reaping.
And in this "exemplary life" you live you forced your beliefs so far down your wife's throat she almost left you. I'm not sure that qualifies as "exemplary" and if anything made a bad impression on your family. Especially if you do the same to them.

You can't force feed salvation to anyone. Not everyone will be saved and in fact, most won't be.
Learning to accept that biblical statement would be step two.

Truth isn't always happy or easy but there is some truth. Really it seems it's time to stop trusting in yourself and start trusting the God you claim to serve and expect others to. If you can't do so properly how can you expect those around you to accept what you say?

A hard lesson but very true, @Subhumanoidal. Thanks a lot.
Happy it helped. I understand the difficulty facing such things can bring but until we face and accept difficult truths we limit ourselves.
But don't stop trying. Not everyone who may be hearing you will show it if they are listening. That's why you keep going, because you never know.

I was married to an agnostic for a while who hated anything Christian. I could have movies on about blood n guts, porn, etc but if it was Christian TV he'd yell 'don't push that **** off on me'. So I lived 'by Faith' and he saw it wasn't a fad or for show. His bf and bfwife started talking to him about Jesus and he passed on one night. We truly believe he saw the light at the end and his life was well worth the effort. (had to condense the story here) God bless.

Sometimes your greatest blessings will come dressed up as your greatest burden. The command was given in "The Book of Exodus 10:26" - it says, "there shall not a hoof be left behind." In other words the Believer should not allow Satan to have any part of one's possessions.

Jesus used the testimony of a man that had over 6,000 demons in him (legions) to show His goodness and mercy. The scripture says that he went to ten cities telling everyone about Jesus. And the scripture says, "they were amazed."

There is no testimony without a test. The Blood of Jesus is so powerful, it can save to the uttermost.

The scripture says, "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of My Father which is in Heaven (Matthew 10:26)."

Father God, I thank You and praise You for Your Beloved Son Jesus, who loved us and gave Himself for us. I ask in His name, that ever person reading this - love ones will be saved. I pray that they and their love ones may prosper in all things and be in health, just as their soul prospers. In Jesus Name, we touch and agree - Amen.

What were you trying to convert your wife from?
Good question. I do not have the answer. She's a wonderful being, sometimes afraid she'll lose me to greater power.

"our marriage was saved but our family was not'???

this is a disturbing response HF - are you saying that you 'converted' your wife???
you say that you 'don't have the answer'? you truly don't know?
then, what is your point??? there is no Greater Power than Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour and The Holy Father...
if you don't know what He has done in your life/family, can u articulate what you are saying in your post to a further
degree so that we can understand where u are coming from and what is happening???
just responding, your choice...

There may be a language problem here. I thought conversion meant helping somebody to actually start believing. That is what did NOT happen but what I am praying and longing for. The question I didn't have the answer to was: where I tried to convert her FROM, not TO. I thought it was a clever question since I was focusing on the TO rather than the FROM. Mystery solved, I hope.
