( Again which is better for society? Atheism or atheist worldviews or worldviews that include something beyond self?)

People who identify as highly spiritual are more likely to say it’s important to make a difference in their communities and contribute to the greater good, a broad new study on American spirituality finds.

The study, “What Does Spirituality Mean to Us?,” found that 86 percent of Americans identify as spiritual to some extent. It also found that the more people define their spirituality through connection — to a higher power or to humanity at large — the more likely they are to volunteer, donate and vote.

While many did not initially see the connection between their spiritual and religious lives and their actions in the world, once in conversation, their awareness often shifted quickly. Many participants linked their spirituality to practical issues in a way they hadn’t considered before, suggesting that those who have not yet connected their inner and outer lives are ripe to do so.

Also, those who told us they were neither religious nor spiritual discovered through conversation that, in fact, spirituality showed up in their lives. This is an honest and respectful conversation we all need to have among ourselves, for the health of our country, and for a more loving world.

come on Rough,
walking in The Spirit is walking in The Spirit -
this is true Spirituality -
and can only be achieved by those who are
'called-elect-chosen'...
this is the new beginning, from being 'dead in the world',
and putting OFF 'the old-man' and 'putting-on-the-new-man',
which is in 'accordance' with Christ Jesus our Lord...

Wasn't a theological post but to highlight a study that compliments Christianity as showing those who are spiritually minded are more likely to be more involved with their communities.

say Wattttt??? oh dear...
:):)
Yep, seems obvious but you would be surprised at how some people try and say religion is the root of evil and if done away with then life would get magically better. So I often use evidence like this that also compliments the scriptures due to the same people who do not see the Bible as authoritative.

er..there are other ppl on this forum not just americans. americans are not the only humans on earth. so not really sure what you getting at.

lots of people are involved in their communities regardless of spirituality because its not compulsory. I know certain closed religious communities only look after their own and thats where you can get all sorts of abuses, so its not always a good thing, you cant generalise.

in terms of voting women campaigned to get the vote in my country, before that the men wouldnt let them and many stated religious reasons to stop them.
in america, many actually blocked black people from voting, also citing religious reasons.

Lan, unfortunately just about everything that is going on in the world today IS about 'racisim' =
there is NO END, NO SATISFACTION, NO SOLUTION in this world's condition,... = and this is why we pray,
'THY KINGDOM COME'...

Spirituality means different things to different people. Christian spirituality has nothing in common with pagan spirituality. Shamanism, voodoo, spiritism, etc. are all connected with spirits and spirituality. And New Age spirituality also has nothing in common with Christian spirituality. So it is not surprising if 86% of Americans identify themselves as spiritual.

Since the extreme Leftists and Communists cannot find anything else to use as a weapon, they have now resorted to "racism" as their clarion call. And it is the Liberals who are the most racist -- "You ain't black if you don't vote for Joe Biden".

Not the point of posting it. It just goes to show a naturalistic worldview tends to create self-centeredness. It points to how just as C.S. Lewis once made the argument to prove God's existence. How most people have the sense of a higher being. And how even the most remote tribes in history we're always found to be spiritual to different degrees. A sense to worship something.

That is only because they turned away from the Living God (Romans 1).

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:

21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.

Yep, what about it? How does that relate to the OP? Point is, to those who believe they must secularize everything while also believing we will progressively become more loving or good, is so very wrong. A spiritual person at least admits there is something more. And by their conscience, they inwardly feel it is right to help others, while with other actions inwardly feel it to be wrong.

Romans 2:14-15
New International Version

14 (Indeed, when Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature things required by the law, they are a law for themselves, even though they do not have the law. 15 They show that the requirements of the law are written on their hearts, their consciences also bearing witness, and their thoughts sometimes accusing them and at other times even defending them.)

The love of money is the root of all evil
1timothy 6.10 .
Religion in the sense of man believing he can appease God through good deeds and self righteousness is also dangerous. Catholicism, Jehovah witnesses, mormons, SDA , Islam ect are all leading people to hell with the lie of ' works righteousness ' .
' Spiritually ' is another false idea that says We can be ok without God .
