When you've done something you shouldn't have done. In a moment of madness. And you've been regretting it since and can't shake off the way it makes you feel inside. You get this like awkward messed up feeling inside when you think of being in certain social situations. And you worry that other people can tell that you're that way because of the way you are within yourself because of something you've done. And all you want is just to forget all about it, learn from it and move on. But it's having a negative impact on the way you are within yourself and with people and just basically sucking the life force out of you. How do you get through that?

It's been a week now and usually by now I'd be feeling fine. But lately I just fell in love with someone and, well, I realize now that I have. But I didn't realize it before and really wish I had of done as I kind of feel like I've betrayed them. Or maybe I'm just being too dramatic about it. Still though, this feeling remains, and I'm doing all I can to try and put it behind me and get over it but it's just had this knock on effect on me this time which has just brought me down and I'm not feeling my usual perky self at all. Not at all. I guess I need to just keep praying and trusting in God. I know God is good. I know He has something better for me than I can ever think that I need for myself.

I just want to feel normal without feeling down on myself but I guess I'm just going to need more time!

And I'm just trying to keep myself busy and stuff and not let things get me down but it's hard going.

Every day I wake up I still feel this way inside and then I seem to feel that way all day.

I just can't seem to bounce back from this this time!

How do I bounce back?

What can I read or pray about to make that happen?

I do know that feeling that you're talking about, but I don't think it always a bad way to feel when you're feeling convicted about something you've done.

I encourage you to talk with the Lord, talk with a pastor, and talk with the person you think you've wronged. Name the thing you did and it may help you move past it without feeling like it's a big secret. Ask for forgiveness and move on. Try not to focus on what you did.

We serve a mighty God. He is loving and gracious, believe that. He is not focused on your sin, but Satan is. Don't give Satan room to work by holding on to this.

These scriptures come to mind:

1 John 1:9 9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

Romans 3:23-24 23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.

You did not say what you did, maybe it would help to explain it?

Everyone does things wrong, we're all screw-ups to one degree or another. You don't forget it, you learn from it. And if you can correct it, you correct your errors.. If its not correctable, you put it behind you and move on. Feelings of guilt is what our accuser wants, because those feelings make us feel defeated and affect our desire to keep striving forward. Sometimes the hardest person to forgive is yourself, you can't leave yourself stuck in a rut by living a past mistake over and over. I'm sure Peter would have liked a do-over after denying Christ 3 times, but he put it behind him and moved on. If we don't do that, we could end up like Judas Iscariot. If God forgives us, who are we not to forgive ourselves. Feeling bad is okay, it demonstrates regret, but we can't change the past, just learn from whatever happened, maybe you can make-up for whatever you did wrong by doing something extra good.

I'm sorry that you are still feeling great regret. I do agree that it can be a good thing. I mean it can serve to prevent repetitious behavior that brings harm to your well-being and perhaps others.

With that said, consider taking a deep breath of His forgiveness, receiving it to the point that you forgive yourself. He tells us to love mercy, so maybe ease up on yourself.

I love the parables of debtors in Luke 7, concerning forgiveness.

WE ARE MORE THAN OVERCOMERS! Let your heart be refreshed in knowing this! We are His precious children, and He gives "good" gifts to His children. Let him ASK of God. Forgiveness is a cleansing, washing out of the old.....let it go....if you can not change it! He never holds confessed sins or our faults in front of Himself to remind Him of our weaknesses! We ARE thru Him,so be ALL He wants you to be!🙏🙏🙏
