Song gives a sad picture of the aches of the human heart without God.

There is an answer: it is found in faith in the Son of the living God.

Hmm so do you think life with God while living on earth is without trails and tribulations, maybe the author of the song is expressing a sadness because the world can sometimes be full of temptations, darkness etc. and we might get tripped up From time to time or others might be hurting inside and thinking everyone knows it, maybe they do or don't.

but I think the message is to always stand up and let your light shine even through scars.

Jesus had heartaches a few times my friend.

No, you missed what I was trying to say . . .

The strength of the song is that it clearly identifies the trials and tribulations and difficulties that we all face on Earth (whether Christians or non-Christians).

What is missing is that knowing Jesus and living for and with Him brings meaning and reality through life's trials.

I don't view it as missing.

As well the strength is in the heart the light with it, show it anyways, the light of the HolySpirit.

I don't think the song is referring to the light of darkness. so yea when the songs says let your light shine let your knowledge of Jesus be your guide and show it to others.
