So my dad's getting married this weekend and he asked if I could sing a song of his choosing. Right away, I was sure of two things:

1. The song he chose would be from the '60s/'70s
2. The song he chose would be incredibly dorky.

Sure enough, I was right on both counts. The song is called Love Song For Number Two by Mickey and Becki moore, and the original is basically the dorkiest thing you've ever seen. And I mean that in a loving way.

However, it's actually pretty adorable as an acoustic cover :) The video itself won't show here, probably because I'm using my iPad, but here's the link to my cover. Enjoy

I do not know if my avatar is from an anime series, but I have watched a lot of anime with my daughter. She taught herself how to read and speak Japanese as a result of her love for anime, starting when she was a young girl under the age of ten. She understands the spoken language directly as a result of watching anime. She is now thirty, and we do not watch much if any anime any more, though we started watching the series called "Preacher" a while ago which is based on a manga. She has quite a bit of manga... I did see a bit of Sailor Moon, which was the first one she watched, but the first one we watched together most of the way through was Inuyasha. It ran into being more than a hundred episodes and we got bogged down in it being so long. There were also at least a couple of movies as part of the ongoing story.

Some others we really enjoyed were 12 Kingdoms, Hikaru no Go, Princess Tutu, Cardcaptor Sekura, Kenshin, Full Moon o Sagashite, Nana, Death Note... there are probably many others, and some we started and would lose track of, haha there was one where a guy would go through a portal to another world every time he got wet, the first time it happened he was getting a swirly at school or something like that, so we always called it "that show where the guy went down the toilet" haha.

fullmoonosaga.jpg
Full Moon was a bit of a sad story about a young girl with a progressive, incurable, fatal disease, who was able to live out her dream of being a world class singer by living portions of her life as an older person.

inuyasha.jpg
Inuyasha. A young girl transports through time to ancient days gone by to fight evil spirits.

cardcaptor.jpg
Cardcaptor Sekura. A very young girl collects magical cards.

princess_tutu.jpg
Princess Tutu. Even ugly ducklings can have a meaningful life with a beautiful ending.

hikaru.jpg
Hikaru no Go. One of my faves. It was quite long also. A young boy meets a Go champion in the form of a ghost. Sai teaches Hikaru how to play Go, and he becomes a champ in his own right.

Firstly, I would just like to say that I am also a lover of anime/manga, some of my favourites being Ouran Highschool Host Club, Soul Eater, Rosario+Vampire, Vampire Knight, Fruits Basket, Mars, Paradise Kiss, Chobits, DearS, Jack Frost, and After School Nightmare.

Also, when I draw chibis they usually turn out pretty freaky-looking.
Except these two. These two turned out alright :)

This one is really very good! You are quite talented :)

After listening (again) to your cover of the song your dad wants you to sing at his wedding, I have come to the conclusion that he has very good tastes and is an awesome guy :D What a sweet song! All the best to him and his new wife :)

I recognize some of those names... a few of the shows I saw with my daughter had quite dark themes. We tended to watch those with a more evolved storyline, oh, The Vision of Escaflowne just came to mind while I was trying to remember another one, I vaguely remember one about a photographer trying to investigate something (was it Speed Grapher?), and one about a girl who was being made into an android, who had sporadic violent tendencies.... some of them definitely verged on disturbing, really, though we tended toward more uplifting stories that were really well told, with well developed characters and interesting plot lines. Some had a futuristic sci fi feel to the story, while others cast back into antiquity to mine the rich history of the Japanese culture. Quite a few had an underlying or even central spiritual core to the story. So much better than much of what was on TV from the western world! We always preferred to watch it in the original language and have the subtitles, which meant I was often busy reading haha. Such fond memories of all those years...

Escaflowne ^^

Nana ^^ We both really enjoyed Nana. It was a modern story of two young women, both named Nana but very different in character, who come to share an apartment and their lives with each other while pursuing their dreams. Really sweet.

Thanks! I'm actually super proud of this one; it took me hours to make XD
I really like how you put it together! :)
