Hello Everyone!

I started writing original Christian music / worship songs last summer in 2013 and I'm looking for feedback as well as avenues to share the music so that it would glorify God by blessings others.

I have 4 songs posted so far, with this one being the latest of them that I just published last weekend, called "So Much More". I would greatly appreciate any feedback, encouragement, etc., as well as sharing them with anyone who you feel would be benefit from them.

For instance, this latest song, I wrote for a friend who is struggling to share her Christian faith with her Dad who was recently diagnosed with cancer. Another song I wrote that you can find on my channel called "Deliver Me" was a tribute to my Mom who had passed away from cancer in 2005. There are so many challenges in this world, and I feel like God uses music as one way to bring about healing and encouragement to our brothers and sisters in Christ. That is my hope for my music, and ultimately that God is glorified and honored with it all.

Anyway, thank you so much in advance for listening. God bless you and I look forward to your feedback!

Sean

Hi Sean,

This is a nice song as "Christian pop" music goes, but I wish you put more of GOD in the text and less I and YOU. If there wasn't the two references to Jesus, you'd never know this was a Christian piece. Why not substitute "God" whenever you have "He"? I just feel like the song doesn't give enough glory to God.

From a musical standpoint, it's a bit repetitive for me, but I realize it fits the standard formula of pop music these days.

Keep honing your skill! You have talent.

Hi Santuzza, thank you so much for the feedback, I really appreciate it! I totally get what you're saying. I'm not sure if you saw my other 3 songs yet on the channel, but you'll see the others are directly about God in pretty much every phrase, because those are more direct worship songs, while this one (So Much More) is meant to be more of a representation of a unique situation. I wrote this one differently because of the context (and person perspective) from which I wrote it in, and I probably should have explained that up front.

For perspective, I wrote this song for my friend who has been struggling in sharing her faith with her Dad. It is a real life representation of my friend speaking directly to her father in the Verses and Chorus. So it was intentionally meant to be very subtle and display her sense of challenge and nervousness in directly sharing her faith. Her Dad has been extremely stubborn and pushing back on her hard about it and basically doesn't want to hear it anymore. So in the song, she is essentially having a dialogue directly with her Dad (or an indirect dialogue in her head about her Dad) in the verses and chorus, which is why they don't refer directly to God in that manner. Then in the Bridge, she turns to God and is asking Him to open her Dad's eyes, soften his heart, etc. because she wants both of them to be with Him in heaven ultimately.

So hopefully that explains it, the dialogue is hers and she is basically scooting around the subject and I was basically translating what she told me in a conversation, and putting music behind it =). That said, I also agree with you that it is more mainstream in that way as well (in addition to the tune - again intentional as that is her style of music she listens to).

But thank you so much for the encouragement and kind words! I will continue to keep working at it and really appreciate and take the feedback to heart! Please check out the other 3 songs as well when you get a chance, this is helpful to me! God bless!

For criticism's sake, it's far from beautiful. It's generic, bland, and does nothing original to add into a musical community who has done this many times. By no reason should you stop creating, just start experimenting.
Much love brother.
