Michelle Obama Cites Jesus as Model for Citizenship

"Our faith journey isn't just about showing up on Sunday for a good sermon and good music and a good meal. It's about what we do Monday through Saturday as well, especially in those quiet moments, when the spotlight's not on us, and we're making those daily choices about how to live our lives.
"We see that in the life of Jesus Christ. Jesus didn't limit his ministry to the four walls of the church," she said. "He was out there fighting injustice and speaking truth to power every single day. He was out there spreading a message of grace and redemption to the least, the last, and the lost. And our charge is to find Him everywhere, every day by how we live our lives."
Obama, who is not a regular churchgoer, said citizenship like the practice of faith is "not a once-a-week kind of deal."

How predictable.
"We should all be like Jesus."

Nooooo..... really? I had no idea!

... and if you're not Christian? Be like him anyway! Yay! Thank you Michelle!

Hahahahaha.... politics gets dumber every 4 years.

The problem isn't that she's saying the right thing so much as the obvious pandering for the religious vote by the wife of a president that hasn't been acting like someone who believes this. Unless Jesus would have allowed guns to be passed to Mexico then used in various homicides. I must have missed the part where Jesus mentioned that. Maybe in the Apocrypha?

My post was made thinking in 1 Peter 2:21 "To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps." which i believe.

But i didnt say that i like her, obviously this woman doesnt have an idea of what she is saying (and christianity) because, besides the fact that she and his husband are not christian, anyone can clearly notice that there is no democracy in Jesus life or teachings.

But i cant say that i know the heart of this woman because only God knows it and i know too that God is in control of everything and uses ppl and situations to His purpose so i prefer not have a fast conclusion about something that havent ended yet.

About the guns, i dont understand you.

And about Apocrypha.....something tells me that you already know what things are in those books.

@systemdown101. Out of all the examples that you could've used, proving that Michelle's husband President Obama isn't a follower of Jesus Christ, you decided to use that. How about the fact that about 2 or 3 years ago President Obama said we aren't just a Christian nation(he's right the people in America, aren't all Christians)in the same speech he started mocking the word of God(Bible). And how can I forget when he said he believes that homosexuals should be able to marry one another.

She would be a fool to not at least try to reach out to us. We would complain as much if not more if she came out and thrashed our religion as some sort of militant atheist.

That said Jesus was too politically incorrect to be a perfect model for Michele Obama style citizenship. What He offers the soul is antithetical to what the Brave New World has to offer. Jesus also is not a member of the GOP.

What we often forget when we toss the name of Christ around is that Christ Himself stands out the side the political spectrum. He understands the importance of contending for righteousness, in fact I think such actions are encouraged. At the end of the day though, it is He who is the sovereign and it is to Him that we offer all due loyalty, even if the political system we live under happens to outlaw such loyalty or undermine the principles that flow out of this loyalty.

I really didn't want to type a huge indictment of Obama, but yeah, I could have used those examples and many more besides. I guess I chose that one because people died as a result.

She would be a fool to not at least try to reach out to us.
Well, to a degree Obama already has, I guess. He has two "Reverends" supporting gay marriage. But as I said, it's not so much that Michelle is reaching out as it is the obvious pandering for a vote. And I'm kind of unsure if she realizes how much of a tool she looks like.

Why I her supporting living for God a bad thing? The Obama's can with you people; if they say something against Christianity they are the reason America is falling away from God, but if they support Christianity they are fake? The Obama's are not the reason America has gone away from Christianity they are a result of America falling away from God.

Well, the fact that she suddenly remembers how important Jesus is this close to the election is certainly suspect. I'm not saying that what she said is wrong but I also don't see much in the way of her living up to those ideals the past few years. This is somewhere between an "Even a stopped clock is right twice a day" thing and shameless pandering. She's certainly correct, but she's probably not sincere.

The Obama's are not the reason America has gone away from Christianity they are a result of America falling away from God.
True, those two are a symptom of the problem, not the cause. But no one I know of has argued that Obama has steered America away from God all on his own.

This is not the first time she's made comments about her faith in Christ. And honestly whether she's sincere or not does not matter. One of my favorite quotes is "all truth is God's truth." agether she's Christian or not what she said is truth therefore it's from God.

Things not of God can give truth as well, but the utilization of these ways not of God are a trap and are not beneficial for any believer.

So are you all going to vote for the Obama's who may or may not be Christian, or perhaps not the right kind of Christian(perhaps they are very private and respect other religious differences, hence a lack of religious talk) or voting for the mormon who follows a cult belief system? Or just not voting and therefore failing to act upon your civil privileges?

Not voting for Romney = voting for Obama.

Voting for Obama = 4+ years of antiChristian politics.

Voting against Obama = first step to restoring America from O's socialist policies.

Cheers. :)

I'm voting against Obama based on his record of complete economic mismanagement. I wouldn't trust him to manage a lemonade stand at this point. Were the election held today, I would (reluctantly) vote for Romney, but I wouldn't be terribly excited to do it.

Obama also appears to follow and encourage a cult belief system. The key difference between him and Romney is that Barack is the head of his own cult. Exhibit A:

Romney isn't a christian. Is there a third party you were going to vote for then?

I'm sorry I'm not exactly understanding what you are saying.
