I am asking a simple question, as I don’t know about these things.
I barely pay attention to news or politics. Most of the knowledge I have of news and politics is from Trumps first term and like the first year of Bidens term, where every day I listened to conservative radio. I got tired of it, stopped listening to politics all together and dipped out.

I'm actually pretty familiar with Canada's immigration laws as i've mentioned to @Magenta too.
I have a cousin who lives in Toronto.
Canada's immigration laws are 10 times stronger than American immigration laws. At least up to Biden.
Now Trump is making them closer to Canada's restrictions.

Yep, I have a cousin who's husband went to Canada on a Visa. They tried several times to renew and couldn't. She had to leave her family and move with her husband to England. It was sad, my uncle isn't well and they don't know if she will get to see him again. Canada's laws are very strict compared to the US. I understand why Trump is trying to tighten them up. Sometimes people get crossed up in the mess, like my cousin who was forced to move away from her family.

Sorry, most people here always make excuses for bad policy under Trump, sincerely sorry to lumping you in with the others.
I voted Independent. I was a Trump supporter in his first term and I voted for him over Biden but I also noticed how so many people idolized the guy and I just don’t want to idolize anyone; nor put anyone above God.

I wish I could dip out as well, but my country is under attack these days from a country we thought was an ally.
All based on lies and inflated numbers as justification.

That doesn’t mean I don’t support him now but my faith in Jesus outweighs any relationship to a government power

Agree, each and everyone of them is to be held to account or else the country goes down the wrong path and it seems this is becoming more evident daily.

The idolization is disgusting.

She was incarcerated for 12 days and not even told why.

As I said, it's very serious. When we came to the US on a Visa as a family years ago my father began chatting with a border guard. He said, not knowing "When our Visas expire we'll try for a Greencard".The border guard stopped, looked at my father and said " I did not just hear you say that!" My father quickly made a joke and the guard was having a good day because at that moment he could have sent us back with all of our belongings, no home, and a home waiting for us State side. People do not realize how serious it is.

I completely agree that the idolization is very disturbing; makes you wonder if they really know Jesus, who loves them and doesn’t love a president less or more than them but equally.

Blanket support is this issue, and it seems that is where most of his supporters live, he can do no wrong even though he lies incessantly about most everything.

Up to this point in history, the borders of the United States and all the immigration laws, were considered like some sort of cruise ship tourism.

Representative Darrell Issa has introduced the “No Rogue Rulings Act of 2025” (NORRA), aiming to limit the authority of federal district court judges to issue nationwide injunctions.

Such injunctions have been used to block presidential policies across the entire country, a practice that Issa and other Republicans argue undermines the executive branch’s constitutional powers.

The bill proposes that district court judges can issue injunctions only applicable to the specific parties involved in a case, preventing broader application that affects national policy.

Issa’s office has expressed optimism about the bill’s passage, anticipating support from Republican colleagues and President Trump. The House Judiciary Committee approved the bill earlier this month, moving it forward for consideration by the full House.

You can get into serious trouble quick. I remember my aunt who was a heavy smoker at the time went shopping across the border. Cigs were cheaper State side and so she got some and didn't declare them. She almost found herself in jail and her vehicle taken. Just depends on who the guard is and their mood that day.

All kinds, most, voted for Trump don't idolize him and they certainly don't put him before God. Hence all the "Trump is my president, Jesus is my Savior" merch.

People have taken advantage of and abused lax border policies for a long time...

Some of that changed after 9/11. But not all.

Well, maybe I started to idolize the guy a bit and instead of plucking both eyes out, I plucked one eye out and threw it in the fire.

i still support the guy and would rather have him in office than anyone else,

I literally bought a Trump punching toy, that when you pressed behind it, it would say “you’re fired” or “build that wall!” I bought two gold collectable Trump coins, and a President Trump shirt, in like 2015.
