The dangerously stupid AOC compared detention centers to concentration camps this week. The link is to a response from a rabbi who corrects her "facts". AOC states “And for the shrieking Republicans who don’t know the difference: concentration camps are not the same as death camps.” The rabbi responds with historical facts:

"For the record, starting with Dachau in 1933, Nazi concentration camps were opened where German socialists, communists, labor leaders, dissidents, and Jews were targeted for persecution, torture and even death.

Future heads of all the Nazi killing centers of the 1940s all honed their brutal skills at breaking inmate’s bodies, spirits, and souls in Dachau. After the 1938 Kristallnacht pogrom in Germany, some 10,000 Jews were rounded up without a pretense of judicial process and dispatched there. Some perished.

During World War II, Nazi concentration camps were death camps where innocent Jewish men women and children were murdered or died of disease or starvation. The camps were an integral part of the Holocaust and Hitler's "final solution" to kill every Jew on Earth.

Fast forward to today. No American with a heart is satisfied with the disastrous situation on our southern border. Unquestionably, migrants are suffering. But they are not being murdered by the millions, their bodies then turned to ashes in crematoria."

The rabbi continues...

As a public service, I would like to recall a 2013 ceremony that took place six years ago when we at the Simon Wiesenthal Center honored Ed Royce – not the recently retired California Republican congressman, but his father.

The elder Royce was one the American GIs who helped liberate the Dachau concentration camp in April 1945. Ed took pictures that day and what he saw was seared into his consciousness for the rest of his life. In his own words he recalled an experience that almost defied description:

“I saw heaps of clothes in front of the building with bad – German for bath – painted on the door, the shower heads that pumped deadly gas instead of water, the room filled halfway to the ceiling with naked bodies and the room with ovens for burning the bodies,” Royce told the gathering at the Museum of Tolerance. “There was an entire trainload – hundreds of emaciated bodies – on a nearby rail spur. Evidently they had starved to death on the train.”

Royce’s black-and-white photos documented the ovens and corpses of murder victims at the camp. An estimated 30,000 prisoners died at Dachau from extermination, disease, starvation and suicide. Yet that horrific number was tiny compared with the estimated 1.1 million people who died at the Auschwitz concentration camp.

It appears AOC needs a lesson in history or two.

They are never concerned with Truth. The simply use this type of language to incite their base.

If truth were required in all Political statements, I doubt there would be enough statements to bother reporting, and this if from either side.

Something I thought about when Ms. Ocasio-Cortez made her ignorant / uneducated claim:

The concentration camps were filled with people who had been hunted down and imprisoned in the concentration camps. In the concentration camps they were robbed of their lands and possessions, they were overworked, were not fed or hydrated, were murdered if found to be unable to work. Much more could be written about the maltreatment of people dragged to concentration camps.

The migrants who are trying to enter America illegally are given medical treatment, fed, clothed. These migrants are not running from America ... they are running to America.

Ms. Ocasio-Cortez would have us believe that the migrants coming to America in droves are too ignorant to realize that they coming to America to be "brutalized with dehumanizing conditions" and to die.

In order to recognize the lie being flung about, watch the people who are coming here. If these migrants were, in fact, being treated as Ms. Ocasio-Cortez claims, we would have no crisis at our borders. No one would want to come here to live in the manner described by Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.

I believe there’s so many people that can’t fathom the cruelties of WWII. They don’t know what war really is and are using the vernacular of war quite inappropriately.

The KZ-camps cannot and should not be compared to anything in the US.

It breaks my heart to even think about what happened to people in those terrible places.

Yet there are people, even here at cc, denying the extent of the crimes against humanity committed in those camps.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

Is it possible that this is a miscommunication. People don't like to think their country is vilifying and persecuting a minority: it's often easier to attack the people who call it out. But it's exactly what a lot of Western countries have done in the past. Whether it be Muslims, Mexicans, or in the case of the British: the Boers, or in the case of the Belgians: the Congolese.

I'm not saying what's happening to Mexicans is as severe as Nazi death camps, but it's certainly a worrying progression, and one that could lead towards similar events if left unchallenged.

Well said kaylagrl. Most of us Americans are not sure why anyone listens to this youngster Ms.Cortez Just goes to show the sad state of affairs our country is in when much of the public can be so easily led. No wonder the democrat socialists in congress and the main stream media have so much power. God help us.

the miscommunication seems to be between those who actually study history and those who teach revisionist history or even better, just leave out anything that makes them wince

there is no worrying progression at the border unless you think returning criminal illegals who have crossed more than once is worrying

I think separating families and causing kids to spend time in caged cells known to border guards as "the freezers", without their parents, without proper care, is a bit heavy-handed. And the entire debacle sets a worrying precedent about how countries treat non-citizens.

only Obama also did that BEFORE Trump and Trump no longer does that

so maybe talk to Obama and even Bush before him, who also did that

what do you think about renting out your children so as an illegal you can falsely claim you are a family?

nothing wrong there, right? treating your child like it is a dog to be rented out?

you should ask yourself what kind of people do that sort of thing. children separated from their 'family' might make some of them actually safer

how about the rape and human trafficking these illegals are known for? how does that hit you?

that ok as long as they are 'free' doing it?

(actually I wouldn't rent my dog never mine child)

the none citizens, as you put it, get free food, shelter, medical care, clothing etc etc. please know what you are talking about before making false claims.

Well its odd to think Miss Cortez is younger than me and a member of congress it seems unreal really. But I can almost guarantee she did not learn about The Holocaust at her schools im fairly certain they stopped teaching it due too liberal snowflake nonsense who want to pretend that humanity was all happy and inclusive till now
