This thread is NOT to stir up ANY debate regarding homosexuality being a sin or not or whatever you want to say about that, this is a link to an article which I thought interesting because it is a law that can potentially limit the church to what they preach.. or perhaps a degree closer to disallowing or banning churches that preach the Good News, but believes homosexuality is wrong. I am not getting all paranoid and thinking this will indeed lead to more laws against preaching about Jesus and his teaching and the end of the Christian world, but it is good to be aware on how this world changes slowly, and how Christian rights get limited over these laws being passed. Many people in other countries like China know those restrictions too closely.

Once again I am not taking any side with pro-Gay or anti-Gay and only saying how churches that believe in all things good and who also believe homosexuality being wrong could be banned one day from preaching about Jesus and all other good things because of laws like this being passed.

I think it's important to note that it bans it for minors only, adults still have the right to enter such programs if they choose, it simply means parents cannot force their children to attend such programs

First of all Jerry Brown is a Governor over a state to Govern the state of Calif. But I believe certain laws should only apply to what is considered a community or legal issue in California. However I believe ones personal sexuality is a personal choice that the Governor has not right telling Hospital psychiatrists to abandon this for kids. Or rather to say having authority over mental and Health that is their own department of what they know. What truly does a government official know about mental and Health psychiatric and personal behaviors of one in their own life? That is not Governoring the state but getting too personal on the matters. The mental Health should be a Federal application of law. That it should take the Supreme Court to make it lawful to abandon something the medical health is doing such as personal decisions. Yet they are allowing this any way.

What does this have to do with the Church? As of not yet the Government has not legally made a Church to abide to not telling anyone not to live like this. But if you look around the times may be sooner than you think. This is a big issue in the UK and the Government is asking Churches to allow same sex marriage. The Episcopal Church is allowing same sex marriage in a recent vote. And some other Churches are allowing same sex. But what will happen to those Churches who say this is a sin according to God? Will the state or federal step in? I believe so but in the future. Not as of this moment. But it is building up to that point.

Joel Osteen a while back got a complaint for his stance on same sex marriage. Joel said he was staying with the Biblical view of what God says. Yet a few Gay activists tried to get Osteen in trouble. It’s not over because these Gay activists continue and will continue until they can get every state in America to be accepting this way of life. Even as the men of Sodom and Gomorrah demanded Lot to have sex with 2 men even also the men and women today are demanding us the state even the Church to have it their way. In the end result God is going to take care of these matters. In Bible Prophecy it says that good would be called evil and evil would be called good. For what evil they do they call good for what good we say of God they call evil. They have labeled you as a Bigot but they have also called God a Bigot for administering this spiritual law. When you see these things do as Lot did. Stay firm and do not engage in these matters. Propose to others what is right to God. Do not harm anyone who is doing wrong. Let God take care of the issue and only call Authorities if one is breaking the law that is placing harm to people. If for example you see 2 men kissing on the bench in your city you might be angry at their godlessness. But do not avenge them. Rather leave them. The Bible teaches don’t take vengeance. That Vengeance is God’s. One last thing to remember is the parable of the field. The wheat and weed grow together but at the harvest they will all be drawn gathered and placed in their place. If you are of the Wheat of Harvest you still are growing with the weeds in the field. The Lord then will take care of these matters.

From the above referenced article:

"
Effective Jan. 1, mental health practitioners are prohibited from performing sexual orientation change efforts — known as reparative or conversion therapy — for anyone under 18.
The therapies "have no basis in science or medicine and they will now be relegated to the dustbin of quackery," Brown said in a statement.
Mainstream associations representing psychiatrists and psychologists have dismissed reparative therapy in recent decades. A number of mental health associations in California — including the state's Board of Behavorial Sciences, the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists and the California Psychological Association — supported the legislation.

But some organizations and ministries continue to use counseling and prayer to try to help conflicted Christians rid themselves of unwanted homosexual inclinations. Gay rights activists have said the damage they inflict on individuals can be deep and lasting and can put youth at higher risk of depression and suicide.
"We're grateful to Gov. Brown for standing with California's children," the Human Rights Campaign said in a statement. "LGBT youth will now be protected from a practice that has not only been debunked as junk science, but has been proven to have drastically negative effects on their well-being."

Reparative therapy is mostly torture, a return to the inquisition. Which, while it did offer "conversions" had no "real results." It needs to be relegated to the dustbin of history and this is the first stroke.

I think it's important to note that it bans it for minors only, adults still have the right to enter such programs if they choose, it simply means parents cannot force their children to attend such programs

It also means minors can't choose to attend the program. That's like saying an abortion ban for all girls under 18 'simply means parents cannot force their children to get an abortion.'

well since 'praying the gay away' and gay conversion camps are jokes anyways I see this only as a step towards actual progress and away from quack therapies.
