I don't know if anyone else is interested in Astronomy. i'm taking a class to meet my teaching certification requirement. However found this very interesting!

Jupiter Meets Venus - Observing Blog - SkyandTelescope.com

This will be a stunning pairing, since Venus and Jupiter are the second and third brightest objects in the night sky, after the Moon. Solidly supported binoculars will also show Jupiter's four Galilean moons as long as they're not too close to the planet, and will reveal Jupiter's tiny disk. You may also be able to make out Venus's disk, which appears slightly more than half as wide as Jupiter's. And if you look carefully, you might see that Venus is now in its gibbous phase, only 60% lit.
so if you get a chance tonight or some time this week look at the Western sky after sunset and see the two planets pass by each other.

yes yesterday was the full moon now as you watch the moon rises about 50 minutes later every night and it will slowly be waning until the new moon in a couple weeks :)

if you look at the sky the same time each night that means the moon will be more to the East each night :) and sets later in the West

This is an amazing Celestial event. I have been tracking Venus rapid trek across the sky and it is now caught up with us and Jupiter and about to pass the gas giant; in the process it will give the appearance that it is converging with it. The moon was full last night and in the eastern sky that tiny red dot you see is Mars!! We are passing it up along our path..this is awesome. Also if you stare just left of Orion in the evening sky around 10 pm you will see the Dog Star Sirius as well, as well as Rigel and the huge Red Giant Betelgeuse. All the events are easily seen with the necked eye. But if you have a tiny telescope, point it just south of Orion's belt and you'll see a tiny smudge there that's not a smudge at all; its a huge nebula that's right! Orion's Nebula. Its so fantastic to see for the fist time. I was blown away by Gods hand seeing it for the fist time. Happy Astronomy night in CC chat and God bless.

I used to learn the constellations and every night I still look up into the sky and see which ones I can see that particular night and where they are (I can still find and name about 20 throughout the year)... I'm not heavy into astronomy, I did have plans to get a nice telescope and maybe will some day but yeah. It's funny that you mentioned this because about a week ago or two I was going to my lunch and I noticed Jupiter and Venus out there. Nothing to unusual. But after about a couple days, I was like... dang, these guys are gonna cross for sure... they're like on the same path or line or whatever. So yeah I've been waiting for them to cross each other. I really didn't think people payed attention to this so I saw your post and was like.. wow, others pay attention to that stuff too...

Good info on which planets are are up in the western sky. I was gonna research it myself. There's a good movie about the birth of Christ called, "The nativity story." or go to New Line Cinema : Nativity Story, The The interesting thing about this movie is how the three wise men were astronomers and they knew that by the lining of the planets the Savior is to be born. For they were awaiting the birth of The Savior and this to be fulfilled by prophecy in scripture. Amazing!

Yes it is truly wonderful!

Matthew 2
New King James Version (NKJV)

2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”

3 When Herod the king heard this, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. 4 And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he inquired of them where the Christ was to be born.

5 So they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for thus it is written by the prophet:

6 ‘But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
Are not the least among the rulers of Judah;
For out of you shall come a Ruler
Who will shepherd My people Israel.’”[a]

Micah 5:2
New King James Version (NKJV)

2 “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah,
Though you are little among the thousands of Judah,
Yet out of you shall come forth to Me
The One to be Ruler in Israel,
Whose goings forth are from of old,
From everlasting.”

I've heard it said that Daniel left a prophecy concerning the Messiah for those wise men in the East to know the signs of the coming of Jesus.

Daniel was taught all the sciences when he was in captivity and the Bible says that he and his friends were four times BETTER than all the astrologers (which is an astronomy with hocus pocus added to their interpretations and observations)
.

Daniel 1
17 As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.

18 Now at the end of the days, when the king had said that they should be brought in, the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. 19 Then the king interviewed them, and among them all none was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; therefore they served before the king. 20 And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.
