Imagine if people fought poverty and political corruption with one tenth the energy they use to defend owning mass murder devices.

I don't think people realize how difficult a pistol or a revolver is to handle.

If you're not skilled, you most likely will not be able to hit the broadside of a barn from 10 ft.

Pesky little things those handguns.

It think it is a matter of preference. Years ago I was given a 357mag with a short barrel and find it to be very easy to use and carry. Rifles were never easy for me. Everyone else in our family enjoyed target shooting and hunting with all kinds of rifles but I just didn't care for doing those things. So this works well to have in the house and to take on walks in the woods and in the fields with the dogs. (am not a hunter)

Also consider the fact that a person who is frightened and inexperience with a firearm is a potential liability. He could miss his intended target and hit an innocent bystander.
A gun license should require extensive training

Around here where we live., we are required to take a course in learning how to shoot. When I got my licence we took the required course and our friend who was the constable of the town taught it. People have been conditioned to fear a gun as if it has a mind of it's own. That is so annoying but unfortunately a fact in this day and age.

Like all tools, those who want the tool must learn to use it and are willing to learn and are eager to learn. Anyone else shouldn't get the tool if they don't want to learn and if they are afraid.

And also., they should understand not everyone is like they are.. uninterested and afraid of owning a gun. The liberal mindset is so annoying.... they can't fathom other people don't think the way they do. So if other people are different than they are and think differently than they think.... they believe something is dreadfully wrong.

They portrait gun carrying citizens on TV as red neck., dumb. sloppy prejudice people. When in fact they are like that guy who is an NRA member who was able to help take down the shooter at the church in Texas the other day and save many other people from possible death and injury. A kind man who knew how to use a gun being proficient and respectful.

Those devices help prevent political corruption, and political corruption is why our taxes aren't used effectively to fight poverty. Therefore we are fighting poverty and political corruption by defending owning firearms.;)

I fight poverty every day by getting my butt out of bed and going to work.
Try it sometime.

exactly

work is a four letter word for some. so much easier to just gripe and complain and take take take

communism sounds like a dream come true to some, instead of the devilish thing it really is

go to a communist regime and start whining and see what happens

people do not know how good they have it

Oh no..om being attacked....
Let me reach around my back and produce this large cumbersome rifle.
A handgun just makes more sense
I was speaking of home defense... out in public, a handgun is definitely the better choice.

A concealed carry license DOES require training. I don't know if you would consider it "extensive" or not, but it is an 8 hour class in the legalities of carrying and using lethal force.

A shotgun is probably better for home invasions. Especially if you live in an apartment with sheetrock walls. Your neighbors would probably appreciate not being hit by stray bullets

Are you sure you are not a US citizen in disguise? In fact, you sound like a true Texan!

There are quite a few of you "north of Amarillo" people on here that are just good folks.... warms my heart!

Only if you use birdshot in your shotgun. Buckshot penetrates walls much too well.

Actually, an AR-15 loaded with highly frangible "varmint" type loads is LESS likely to penetrate several walls than buckshot.

Dude let me first say I am surprised you are pro 2nd amendment, I was wrong about you listening to everything on CNN. My apologies:(

I agree the rifle isn't practical for home self-defense and dangerous in the hands of the bipolar nutjobs, but the most dangerous person to have the gun is the government, and if they have them we need them too.

A novice is not about to enter a church and shoot up the place. That makes the novice considerably less dangerous.

This guy was not supposed to be able to purchase a gun due to his dishonorable discharge from the military. This information was not released. Whoever failed to release this information should be held accountable.

So, all the gun control laws that are necessary, were already passed a long time ago, and were fully in effect?

I earn comfortably above minimum wage.

You weren't even clever enough to find a way to use my entire post to insult me, so you clipped off two thirds. So how much does Taco bell pay you these days anyway?
