Firstly, let me say that I'm not a supporter of WOKE at all. I despise WOKE education and philosophy.

That being said, I find the media's coverage, press/internet/tv/etc, 100% different for murder cases of whites and blacks.

A while back Gabby Petito was murdered and the media covered the case for months. And, more recently, there were the Idaho University murders of 4 young students. The media is tenaciously promoting this story, every day in every way it can.

There are murders of minorities in inner cities of the USA, every day. But these cases are lucky to catch a blurb in the loal papers. Occassionally the media does pay some attention to the murder of blacks, like they did for the UVA footballers who were murdered. But they did so for only a few days.

I suspect that the reason that the media pays so much attention to the murders of Petito and the Idaho students is because they were young, physically attractive, and white.

The media is good at pointing the finger and accusing so many of racism. But I think the media is racist, hipocritical and ought to take a look in the mirror.

it seems to racially profile people into different colours, but then thats what you get when you dont have a Christian media presence, seems like theres no actually no Christian reporters anymore.

Have they all become apostate to the advertising dollar?

Well I think that the perpetrators of the lion’s share of black murder victims are other blacks.

So that’s why they don’t cover those stories that extensively.

If a white murders a black, ( very rare) then it is ALWAYS extensively covered.

thats because people like reading about murders

I was in a biography book club and some people were true crime aficionados. I said whats the fascination. I dont want to read about crime.

it comes from people who like agatha christie and murder mysteries as a source of fascination that anyone would kill anyone else and not come clean about what they did.

Yes, I used to teach in Brooklyn in a predominantly Black and brown school (I think one white kid out of 400). For reference there are 400 HS in NYC, so if we are having one kid per year how many are being killed in NYC each year? Every year we had a kid either shot or stabbed near the school, on school grounds or at some party. There was 0 media coverage. You can see why the parents would be so jaded and disgusted to see wall to wall coverage of four students in Iowa being killed by the NY press when they ignore the kids in their own town being killed.

One morning I learned that the cousin of one of my students was killed the day before from the Basketball coach. So when I saw him I expressed my condolences and as we talked about his cousin dying it became clear he wasn't talking about the kid the Basketball coach told me about. It turns out he had had two cousins get killed in the very recent past.

people have to understand that the media isnt always your friend

If you want better news stories, YOU make the news. Hence, social media.
