NASA said the asteroid "Apophis" will miss the earth by a far distance of 30,577 kilometers. There are no known Asteroid threats to the earth. Asteroids pass closer than that every day of various sizes. I have not heard any Christian Church make any statements about any prophetic revelations about any asteroid threats currently or in the Bible, and neither have I personally as a Christian. It was wrong of me, and is not the goal of Christian ministry, to create fear over every theory.

I believe the Lord is severely disciplining me for promoting disaster as a main message of the Bible, when God is about love mercy and salvation.

The only apocalypse we as Christians need to be concerned about is within us.
I'm sorry for misrepresentation of the Bible. The Bible warns not to pass by human suffering, not to be obsessed with destruction.
Let's take care not to let Jesus pass by our lives, and to trust Him.

I believe the Lord warned it's ok for Christians to warn of Biblical events, but the Bible strictly forbids speculation over Revelation being here, and there is disagreement over what Revelation stands for- spiritually or literally. Trying to define a book rich in symbolism, is also discouraged by the Apostle Paul, who warns against endless speculation, since that is not the purpose of the Christian message of salvation through Christ the Lord.

At that distance, the asteroid would be considered a near-miss. The whole book of Revelation warns of biblical events that are to come. We may not know the day or hour that Jesus returns, and even He doesn't know but the only the Father knows, but we can know the season by learning about the parable of the fig tree which is referring to Israel. I don't believe that any of your posts have misrepresented the bible. I do agree that endless speculation is not spiritual as it leads to disputes. There is symbolism in Revelation but also there is a lot that is literal. It takes discernment to know the difference. I don't believe the Lord is disciplining you for promoting your own honest assessment of current events. You are right though, God is about love, mercy and salvation.

Thank you for your reply and help. These forums help those who read them not just the participants. But it was helpful to me too.

I was a bit over the edge with disaster speculation mixed in with valid spiritual gifts. Like you said, it takes discipline and discernment.

I wouldn't call Apophis a near miss-. A one in 200,000 chance means there is no chance, but they just don't want to say zero chance. It's not a gamble at Vegas. God knows what is and is not a threat.

Another asteroid missing the earth?

Guess I'll still have to pay off that mortgage.

I have been watching Apophis for years now and i would not take any confidence in any ""scientific"" Authority that says that Apophis will miss the earth in 2029.. If they knew it was going to hit earth in 2029 you can be assured that they would suppress this knowledge and keep on telling everyone that everything will be alright..

I think Apophis is a prime candidate for the burning mountain that will be cast into the sea shown in the book of Revelation.. I believe that a Meteor will cause much of the last days destruction, I believe it's impact will trigger the largest earthquake the world has ever seen

Revelation 8: KJV
8 "And the second angel sounded, and as it were a great mountain burning with fire was cast into the sea: and the third part of the sea became blood; {9} And the third part of the creatures which were in the sea, and had life, died; and the third part of the ships were destroyed."

I understand that it can deflect fear, but not in a foxhole, especially considering the above post of adstar about Revelation. And I realized I was missing the mark in saying "no worries.".

I said the same thing recently trying to accept the status quo, but now realize that things we as people dismiss, may not be on judgment day. It's good to say God is a Lord of love, mercy, and salvation, but we can't forget also divine justice, intervention, and judgment.

This asteroid may be a near miss-, but it's also a close call, and divine warning. If the world doesn't get serious about working together, I believe it could be allowed to hit one day, or another. Peter said the Lord is giving humanity time to get it together.

I don't know much about the New Millennium, but it's safe to say there will be no wars, violence, sexual abuses, no atomic dangers, or disregard for sacred life, or the holy ways of God, which all people have transgressed, and trespassed.

My Brother,
It is very interesting and informative to hear news about asteroids.
Please keep posting interesting news.

Nonetheless, if the world blows up tomorrow, my life just gets better.
All my problems will end, and I'll go to be with Jesus.

God Bless.

Thanks again for adding to the discussion. Also, I meant millennial reign, not new millennium, which the Bible mentions.

And here I thought "Apophis" was a bad guy on Stargate SG-1.

Its great to know that we are not going to be hit by an asteroid any time soon. I can now take that off my worry list and concentrate on
important things nearer to home.
