In a world where nukes and terriorists are seen as the biggest threat,
it seems man made poisons (which Russia seems to have the upper hand
on) have been overlooked.

Russian spy: White House backs UK decision to expel diplomats - BBC News

Russian spy: What we know so far - BBC News

What we know do far

Sergei Skripal, 66, and Yulia Skripal, 33, remain in a critical
but stable condition after being found slumped on a bench
near the Maltings shopping centre in Salisbury, Wiltshire, on Sunday 4 March.

A police officer who fell ill tending to the pair remains seriously
ill in hospital, while another person is being treated as an outpatient.

Theresa May said the chemical used in the attack had been
identified as being part of a group of nerve agents developed
by Russia known as Novichok.

Russia failed to meet Tuesday's deadline to provide a credible
explanation over the origins of the substance and Mrs May has
invoked several sanctions to send a "clear message".

  • Of the 38 people who have been seen in hospital in relation to the incident, 34 have been discharged
  • Only Mr Skripal, his daughter Yulia and Det Sgt Bailey remain in hospital. One person is being monitored as an outpatient but is not showing any signs of exposure

Police have been treating the case as attempted murder.
Traces of the nerve agent were found at the Mill pub and Zizzi restaurant, where
the Skripals spent the afternoon.

Eyewitness Jamie Paine said he saw a woman on a bench frothing at the
mouth and her eyes "were wide open but completely white".

A doctor, who was shopping with her husband in the city centre on Sunday,
said Ms Skripal was "slumped in her seat, completely unconscious" and had
lost control of her bodily functions.

Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley, head of counter-terrorism operations,
said the Skripals had been "targeted specifically".

Russian spy: Salisbury diners told to wash possessions - BBC News

Up to 500 Salisbury pub-goers and diners have been told to wash
possessions as a precaution after nerve agent traces were found.

Trace amounts of the substance used to poison ex-Russian spy Sergei Skripal
and his daughter were found on and around a table where the pair ate at Zizzi
restaurant, the BBC has learned.

The table, along with other items, has been removed and destroyed.
Scientists have advised police it could take weeks for the premises to reopen.

Yes it is big news here Downunder.
Endless coverage of how evil Russia is.
Even our Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull publicly sided with Teresa May
your PM and chided Russia for not abiding to the rules of good governance.
Not being a well behaved member of the international community.

They just keep poking the bear. And what do large bears do when they
have had enough provocation? Snarly critters ...

Russia spy: Allies condemn nerve agent attack - BBC News

The leaders of France, Germany, the US and UK say there
is "no plausible alternative explanation" to Russia having
been behind the nerve agent attack in the UK.

They condemned the "first offensive use of a nerve agent in Europe
since the Second World War", calling it an assault on UK sovereignty.

The UK has expelled 23 Russian diplomats in the wake of the incident.
PM Theresa May on Thursday visited the site of the attack in Wiltshire.
"We do hold Russia culpable for this brazen, brazen act and despicable
act," she said.
Russia has denied any involvement in the attack. It has
vowed a swift response to the expulsion of its diplomats.

Alexander Litvinenko: Profile of murdered Russian spy - BBC News

Former spy Alexander Litvinenko was killed in November 2006,
leading to a clouding of relations between London and Moscow.

The 43-year-old had been an officer with the Federal Security
Service (FSB), the successor to the KGB, but he fled to Britain
where he became a fierce critic of the Kremlin. In his final years
he also became a British citizen.

After he was killed by radioactive polonium-210, believed to have
been administered in a cup of tea, it emerged the father-of-one was
being paid by the British secret service MI6.

There is no doubt that the Russians pursue their enemies and dissidents;
it is the use of these radioactive and chemical agents that the West gets
all moral and hypocritical about.

I suppose the CIA and MI6 tend to use bullets rather than plutonium.
The Russians may break the rules as to how you assassinate your foes
but they are not alone in doing assassinations.

The CIA has much blood on its hands. And I would go further to say
far more notorious and to be feared than the FSB.

I don't know why the US and NATO want to encircle Russia with its weapons even the Cold War is over.

You can't blame the Russians to be this aggressive because they are doing their best that the US version of Operation Barbarossa will not happen again.

The problem with the Westerners is they force many countries as many as they can to be their vassal. Why can't the West see Russia as a partner like what happened in World War 2?

Do you think that the people in Ukraine and Crimea think that Russia is their friend, after Russia invaded them, destroyed the cities, killed the children, and the people, and now rules with an iron fist?

The only thing stopping Czar Putin is force.

Just go say something against Czar Putin in Russia.

How do you like your poison? Before or after dinner?

Wow don't make your country appear to be Godly huh.

I admit Putin became aggressive. why? because US Obama destabilized the Pro Russian government in Ukraine there.

BTW People in Crimea really prefer to be part of Russia and it was decided by Referendum.

Some Eastern Ukrainians want referendum but the newly Ukrainian government declined so those Eastern Ukrainians decided to rebel and asked Russia to supply them arms.

but the chaos in Eastern Ukraine stopped when Russia decided to give them some loans.

You Yankees are war mongers. Thank God that Hillary did not win or else she will try to oust our president.

why should I believe in the US media that even most Americans do not believe it and this is the reason why President Trump won.

The US media painted Russia as very bad country but in fact it only acted on defense after US Obama destabilized the Pro Russian government there.

and do not dare to criticize the FSB assassination in Britain. Yes it is so brutal but remember the CIA also do some assassinations but in a safer way.

Hi,jameen,I'm just a person like any body, so I can't answer for the U.S. nation. I don't think that there is really any "godly" nation in this world. There are nations with many loving people, who believe in the ways of love, but those people do not always have power. Usually it is the brutal savages who try to rule from the use of arms. Instead of reason and justice, they are prejudice and selfish.Let's just say that there are people who are willing to serve the greater community, and people who want to rule the community. Those who serve their their fellow man are greater than those who rule Matt 23:11. This is why we want to elect our leaders, because we want those who will serve the needs of the community. Those that we entrust this power to must know love and justice, but sadly, a wise man is 1 in 1,000 Eccle 7:28.The god of confusion is strong in this world.
I admit Putin became aggressive. why?
Because he does not have faith, in Jesus, and love. His world is one of fear and heartless violence. He cannot let the people be free, because they would not choose the way of suffering.Read some history books about the last 100 years. That tells the real story of Russian genocide against it's neighbors. It has always been that way. Nation against nation, for no real reason, no real reason to kill your innocent brother and his children. Gold, land, lust, pride, not reasons to kill, but that is what people do who don't know Jesus and his love.
because US Obama destabilized the Pro Russian government in Ukraine there.
The people of Ukraine were killed by the millions by Stalin, and their present fear is confirmed by recent events.
BTW People in Crimea really prefer to be part of Russia and it was decided by Referendum.
Yes, at gun point. That's like saying that after China invades the Philippines, they hold a vote after they bring in 1000's of invaders. Any one who was local who tried to vote they shot. That's the Russian/Chinese election process. That's what they did in Crimea. What about the rest of Europe? You think that they want the Russian Czar to rule them? That's why they are taking measures to defend themselves against Russia,...... Not the USA, Russia!
Some Eastern Ukrainians want referendum but the newly Ukrainian government declined so those Eastern Ukrainians decided to rebel and asked Russia to supply them arms.
This is the same Russian trick that they have used for years, cause confusion, create a crisis, then seize power by force.
but the chaos in Eastern Ukraine stopped when Russia decided to give them some loans.
The fighting hasn't stopped. It will never stop until Czar Putin says to stop. If Czar Putin said stop, it would end that very moment and the Russian occupiers could go home. His troops are there now.
You Yankees are war mongers. Thank God that Hillary did not win or else she will try to oust our president.
When the Chinese build their bases off your coast, claim the entire South China sea as their exclusive territory, and prepare for an invasion, to take control of your nation, who will help you? (Maybe the Russians?)I think that you will need some help, unless you want your grandchildren to be fluent in speaking Chinese.
why should I believe in the US media that even most Americans do not believe it and this is the reason why President Trump won.
Every one here can say what they want, we decide who to believe. But, we are not perfect either. And, an enemy has sown tares among us.
The US media painted Russia as very bad country but in fact it only acted on defense after US Obama destabilized the Pro Russian government there.
Man, get some history books, OK?
and do not dare to criticize the FSB assassination in Britain.
I will criticize all assassinations, because they are not justice, in most cases. So you approve of the murders? You think it is ok if Russia did it because everybody seems to be doing it? You think that they should do more? They have always been doing it! They have a long history of murdering critics. I have seen it for 60 years.
Yes it is so brutal but remember the CIA also do some assassinations but in a safer way.
That doesn't make it right! No one is supposed to support injustice. The CIA is not supposed to be doing it. It would be illegal for them to do it.

A bit short sighted, did you read the articles posted. 500 people
who may have been contaminated told to take precautions. Even a minute
amount of the nerve agent can have long term effects.

Thats worse than terrorist, I’ve yet to see a terriorist attack than affected that
many people. It’s not just about Russia getting annoyed at one person and taking
them out (although that’s bad enough). It’s that they feel it’s acceptable to let loose
with a man made toxic poison for which there is no antidote on UK soil.

https://news.sky.com/story/spy-pois...-hundreds-could-be-at-risk-for-years-11287880

A Russian chemical weapons scientist has told Sky News that people exposed
to even tiny traces of the nerve agent used to attack a spy and his daughter
in Salisbury could be in danger of developing symptoms in years to come.
Dr Vil Mirzayanov is a chemist who ran the technical counter-intelligence
department in Russia's chemical weapons institute.

He helped make "novichok", the class of nerve agents the British government
says was used to poison defected spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia.

The doctor said that even minuscule amounts could affect victims, and that
symptoms could develop "in years".

1953 Iranian coup d'état
The 1953 Iranian coup d'état, known in Iran as the 28 Mordad coup d'état, was the overthrow
of the democratically elected Prime Minister Mohammad Mosaddegh in favour of strengthening
the monarchical rule of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi on 19 August 1953, orchestrated by the
United Kingdom (under the name "Operation Boot") and the United States CIA (under the name
TPAJAX Project or "Operation Ajax").

Winston Churchill and the Eisenhower administration decided to overthrow Iran's government,
though the predecessor Truman administration had opposed a coup, fearing the precedent that
CIA involvement would set.
Classified documents show that British intelligence officials played a pivotal role in initiating and
planning the coup, and that the AIOC contributed $25,000 towards the expense of bribing officials.
In August 2013, 60 years after, the American Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) admitted that it
was in charge of both the planning and the execution of the coup, including the bribing of Iranian
politicians, security and army high-ranking officials, as well as pro-coup propaganda.

The CIA is quoted acknowledging the coup was carried out "under CIA direction" and "as an act of U.S.
foreign policy, conceived and approved at the highest levels of government".

Thus we have the Iranian Islamic Revolution of 1979.

Prepare for invasion? it is already invaded. your bullshit Obama even gave the Panatag Shoal to the Chinese when he ordered President Aquino to withdraw his navy ships there instead of sending US ships to support the Philippine assertiveness. no wonder why even most of Filipino Americans voted for Trump because of the fallacy Obama did in this issue.

The fighting hasn't stopped. It will never stop until Czar Putin says to stop. If Czar Putin said stop, it would end that very moment and the Russian occupiers could go home. His troops are there now.
I never heard in CNN that fighting still rages on in Eastern Ukraine. why believe in the lying US media which most Americans do not also believe?

I prefer to believe in the Russian media that fighting already stops after Russia gave some 100 billion dollar loans to the US puppet Ukrainian government there which still has not yet paid.

Yes, at gun point. That's like saying that after China invades the Philippines, they hold a vote after they bring in 1000's of invaders. Any one who was local who tried to vote they shot. Before the Eastern Ukraine crisis and Crimea referendum, most people there want to be part of Russia because Ukraine is very corrupt and besides Russia is richer than Ukraine.

Russia sent its troops to Crimea because the newly established government in Ukraine by the US immediately sends its troops to Crimea but Crimeans ask Russia to rescue them to send troops and it happened.

if Ukraine is really competent that most Ukrainians do not wish to be part of Russia then allow Eastern Ukrainians to have a referendum there.

why the US puppet government in Ukraine do not want referendum in Eastern Ukraine? simple. because they know most Ukrainians want to be part of Russia.

This is the reason why the US Obama destabilized the Pro Russian government there which was truly elected by the people.

The Russia today is not the former atheistic and aggressive USSR. Russia is becoming more Christian than the US itself. the US in fact is almost losing its Christian spirit.

As a Christian, I prefer to believe in a renewed nation who was former atheist than the so called largest Christian nation on earth which I know its Christian spirits is almost losing.

Why believe what the US media is telling to the world that even most Americans do not also believe in it?

Next time google President Eisenhower's speech about the great threat of the influence of military industrial complex in the US.

I believe and President Trump's supporters also believe that the military industrial complex was responsible for wars all over the world today like in Syria, Iraq, Libya etc.

This is part of the Deep State which is also responsible for degrading President Trump using the US media.

Demi that is totally naïve.
You become an enemy of the state in any Western democracy and you
will be gaoled or chopped.
There are no good guys in white hats versus the bad guys in black hats.

As this is a Christian Chat site let us adopt a Christian perspective

The whole world is evil before God
The Americans are evil and un-Godly just like the Russians and the Germans
and the British and the Thais and the Philippinos and everybody else.
Yes even Australian society is evil and un-Godly.

Governments do not rule in justice and equity nor with the wisdom of God.
They are products of sin and pursue the power and riches of worldly
kingdoms.

Whether east or west, north or south governments and societies are
manifestations of our sinful natures.
This is why in the end Jesus must return to save us from ourselves and
then the government will be upon his shoulder.
And it will not be democracy.

In the past what mitigated our sinful natures and our propensity to
fully commit evil was the power of religion and in particular the gospel.

But even in the good old days when the greater majority of people went
to church and politicians openly promoted virtues applicable to good
governance - when enemies of the state or nationalistic movements
threatened the world order - people were killed in order to preserve
the lifestyles and power of the ruling classes.

The Jallianwala Bagh Massacre by the British in 1919

The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place
on 13 April 1919 when troops of the British Indian Army under the command of
Colonel Reginald Dyer fired rifles into a crowd of Baishakhi pilgrims, who had gathered
in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar, Punjab.
The civilians, in the majority Sikhs, had assembled to participate in the annual Baisakhi
celebrations, a religious and cultural festival for Punjabi people and also to condemn the
arrest and deportation of two national leaders, Satya Pal and Dr Saifuddin Kitchlew.

On Sunday, 13 April 1919, Dyer was convinced of a major insurrection and he banned all
meetings; however this notice was not widely disseminated.
That was the day of Baisakhi, the main Sikh festival, and many villagers had gathered in
the Bagh. On hearing that a meeting had assembled at Jallianwala Bagh, Dyer went with Sikh,
Gurkha, Baluchi, Rajput troops to a raised bank and ordered them to shoot at the crowd.
Dyer continued the firing for about ten minutes, until the ammunition supply was almost
exhausted.
Dyer stated that 1,650 rounds had been fired, a number apparently derived by counting
empty cartridge cases picked up by the troops.
Official British Indian sources gave a figure of 379 identified dead, with approximately
1,100 wounded.
The casualty number estimated by the Indian National Congress was more than 1,500 injured,
with approximately 1,000 dead.

Dyer was initially lauded by conservative forces in the empire, but in July 1920 he was censured
and forced to retire by the House of Commons.
He became a celebrated hero in the UK among most of the people connected to the British Raj.

Among his prominent supporters, Nobel Literature Prize winner Rudyard Kipling called Dyer
"the man who saved India" and initiated collections for his homecoming prize.
