http://GYM TEACHER ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING STUDENT WHO REFUSED TO STAND FOR PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

I wanna get some thoughts on this....I don't really agree with putting hands on the child, but I do understand coming from a traditional background and having morals and manners and respecting your country that you are a citizen of. Sadly, this is a reflection of parents NOT parenting their children
You know our God has dropped so many anvils on my head, I feel like a loony toon.

This past Sunday morning our pastor told us a story about when he spent 2 weeks in Ghana.
He saw a teacher who has several hundred students sitting outside on the ground and he was teaching them arithmetic.
All of these children were quiet and well-behaved. After he dismissed them then they ran around like kids do.
Pastor Webb ask the man how he managed to get several hundred small children to sit quietly. The man responded that it's a cultural thing. He said " the problem with your American culture is that you have lost honor in your house"
And their culture children are taught from an early age that if they disrespect their teachers or misbehave in class then it brings dishonor on their entire household

That culture still exists to a certain degree in smaller tight knit rural communities here in the US but was pretty much lost in the cities and suburbs back in the 60's and 70's. I grew up in the 70's into the 80's and although the idea of "dishonoring the family" wasn't drilled home, I sure knew that if I acted out away from home I would be in twice the trouble as if I did the same thing at home.

If the student has the right to be an ungrateful, unpatriotic jerk, he/she should be allowed with no physical ramifications.

People expect schools to do everything... babysit, teach their kids about sex, learn manners, etc... This teacher is no spring chicken... she's old enough to know that her behavior is more juvenile than the unpatriotic students. The middle school kid almost has an excuse, he/she is a kid... what's this teacher's excuse for physically assaulting (assuming she did) a student because she disagrees with the student's right to sit? Imagine if we were allowed to put our hands on anyone and everyone we disagree with...
