Should this actually happen, I will be moving back to Texas.....

U.S.
[h=3]The Texas secession debate is getting kind of real[/h]

When Texas Republicans assemble for their state convention next month, it's possible they will debate whether Texas should secede from the United States. There's almost no chance Texas Republicans will actually vote in favor of seceding, mind you -- not least because most of the party wants nothing to do with this -- but the fact we're even mentioning secession and the Texas GOP convention in the same sentence suggests that the once-fringe movement has become a priority for at least some conservative grass-roots Texans. To be sure, that seems to be a relatively small group. The Texas secession movement says 22 out of the 270 county GOP conventions passed some kind of independence resolution this ...Read more

That.s interesting. Texas had an Embassy in London. The last time I looked it had been converted into a Restaurant so
they will have to find new premises

I am for a peaceful succession from the union ...it appears America is two different groups of people desiring two very different societies.

I don't think secession is an option. Where would that leave us? What would Texas become? An insignificant country squeezed between the US and Mexico.

Hardly insignificant. People from all over the USA will flock there to prosper in a conservatively grounded, Christian based society with great economic opportunities.

I'm not sure the US nor Mexico would be our allies, and it would be a "hard knock life" like in "Annie Get Your Gun":(

I believe TX is one of the greatest states in the USA. I also believe that TX will be hit first when marshal law is rolled out.
In a war, you go after the biggest obstacle first. Tx will be an example to the rest if that comes to pass. What do you think about my theory?

I'm saying that not many from Texas likes the idea of secession.

Good point about allies but it wouldn't be hard knocks at all. Great natural resources, warm climate, ocean front property, mountains, and many other luxuries would make for good living.

Besides, I guess Mexico would like to get back what they've lost to the US. And they would for sure know that the US would not be supporting us.

The US would have no choice but to support Texas if Mexico wanted to wage war against Texas. Families living in the US who have loved ones in Texas would make darn sure about that. Besides, if Mexico wanted to pick a fight with Texas, Mexico would get its rear end handed to it.

I hope so, but I fear a secession would be manhandled like it was back in the 1860s.

Texas has an economy bigger than most countries..and the south and mid western States could form a nation apart from these godless liberals

Since I relocated here from PA, I have learned that most TX folks seem to hold this attitude.
