This makes me proud to be an American.

When the Canadians threw my ancestors out of Canada, it was Louisiana, USA, they were allowed to settle in.
Ah,so your kin are French Canadian. They were deported from Nova Scotia. Gotta love those Brits. :)

I wonder why they didn't do the same in Quebec?

guess the fur trade was too lucrative and the voyageurs would have been a loss

can't see a red coat in a canoe in the rapids

Good question, I really don't know on that one. But I grew up with the story living so close to where it happened. The expulsion of the French because they would not pledge allegiance to the king. And then the Americans happened. lol

Quebec is vast...like Ontario. NS is a small province...I think you are from there? and I've been all around where the events happened so also familiar with it

it would have been about impossible to put all the French out of Quebec probably

fur was a main trading item and bankrolled many companies that came into being just because of the fur

the expulsion is really a sad part of the history and a blight on the record of the Brits IMO

is it me or have I managed to steer this thread off course?

anyway, off to lala land

Times have changed since the 1880s. Back in the day there were people who desired to contribute to America via hard work and patriotism. Today the overwhelming masses want free stuff and refuse to ask for it in English.
have you ever actually heard anyone say "¡dame cosas gratis!" ?

Name a Democrat who is better? Also I agree with most policies being pushed or defended. Plus conservative judges on the supreme and lower courts, pro life orders, pro Israel acts, better trade deals, economy is doing great, stock markets have been hitting all time highs, African and Hispanic American unemployment rate has drastically decreased, border security is being addressed, religious freedom protections, prescription drug prices are to be cheaper under a new buy out of country policy, EPA less restrictive allowing businesses to come home or work more effectively, a good Christian Vice President, surrounds himself with many Christian leaders all throughout the year, very open and straightforward, has stood up to Russia, China, North Korea, Iran. Also ended the Iranian nuclear deal just to name some off the top of my head.

Yea, but didn't you know he is a racist, misogynistic, fascist, Nazi, with concentration camps on the boarder? And so what if NONE of that is really true, and REAL good things are happening in the REAL world. All I care about is the fact the "orange man bad", is in office and I don't like it, and don't "feel" good about him.

That's a good argument. Right?
