Why must the sun set on this day?

If only God could make the sun stand still as he did for his people when they seized Jericho.

How does one go back to reality?

How does one return home?

For another chapter in my life has come to an end.

My heart mourns those it has crossed paths with.

Their faces forever etched in my heart.

God is turning the page and I cannot stop him.

He dips his pen in ink and begins to write in my book.

I examine the book closely, hoping to see what he is writing.

To my surprise nothing is on the page not even a word!

"Lord! Why can I not see what you have written?"

He replied, "My will for you is no secret. Open your eyes and you will see what I have written."

I stood baffled and in silence trying to battle the doubt and fear within me.

"Why are you afraid?" He said. "Do you not trust me?"

I began to weep

"No Lord, I trust you, It's just that this season of mine is coming to an end and I'm stricken with grief because I'm not ready."

"I have made many friends and have seen many things and have made my home in an unfamiliar land."

"I'm not ready to leave."

The Lord replied, "Surley I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Yes! I am very sad that this season is coming to a close only to be lost in memories.

Despite my grief I will stand firm.

I will go to my fortress and my rock!

Yes! I shall take refuge in the one of whom they call, "Lord of heavens armies."

He is faithful and true.

He will neither forsake me or abandon me.

He will see me through my endeavors.

His word is like a lamp for my feet and his love surpasses all understanding.

I am not alone!

For the God of angel armies goes before me.

My grief will be turned to joy and my tears will be wiped from my cheeks.

A new season is here and so is my God.

Just as the sun sets surely it will rise again.

I can see the sun rising now with all its brilliance and splendor

I see an angel in the sun blowing a trumpet

"May God bless this new season and may he be with you!"

Thank you Lord Jesus for all the seasons of my life.

May you forever be glorified and worshipped.

Walk with me as I decipher the words you have written in my book.

Take me by the hand like a child and sail with me into the dawn.

Amen.

This is very honest and touching. Thank you for sharing. It makes me think of people who I have loved dearly who came into my life just for a season. Some I have cried over because I wanted them to stay forever! :) It's a wonderful thing in this world to meet someone who lights up your heart.
I'm so glad, though, for your poem, a reminder to trust God with the pen! :)
