He never spoke with a microphone.
He never received applause.
He never won a trophy.
His name is not written in books.
He was never honored at a banquet.
His name was never in lights.
You never noticed him.

He opened the door and waited for you to pass.
He quietly gave you his place in line.
He smiled at you and complimented your children.
He spoke kindly to the harried clerk.
He picked up the trash you left behind.
He returned the item that fell from the shelf.
He always spoke to children.
He enjoyed the elderly.
He waited patiently at the intersection.
He parked far so you could park near.
He moved the hazard from the sidewalk.
He helped you load your car.
He mowed his neighbor’s lawn.
He helped the preborn.
He shoveled the widow’s snow.
He supported your children’s school.
He gave what he could to others.
His voice was soft.
His smile was quick.
His eyes were kind.
He was always aware of you.



He rarely sat in a pew.
He never sang in a choir.
He never held an office.
He was just too busy,
Serving in Christ’s Assembly.
