I don't typically like explanations for songs or poems, and don't typically give them, but just to avoid negative attitudes, and the "Is everything ok?" questions, I feel this one deserves something brief. It is not bright. It is not cheery. It is not happy. In the name of all that is good in the hopes and promises of God many christians push and push for constant positive upbeat attitudes, and at times a false optimism that isn't there. For instance, me being told my marriage would be healed if I just prayed for it...didn't happen. A lot of times when we're down and dealing with difficulties, we don't need preaching or false optimism. We simply need a friend to sympathize with us and love us where we are without trying to paint a smile on our face. As it says in Ecclesiastes "There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven: a time to give birth and a time to die; a time to plant and a time to uproot; a time to kill and a time to heal; a time to tear down and a time to build; a time to weep and a time to laugh; a time to mourn and a time to dance; a time to throw stones and a time to gather stones; a time to embrace and a time to avoid embracing; a time to search and a time to count as lost; a time to keep and a time to throw away; a time to tear and a time to sew; a time to be silent and a time to speak; a time to love and a time to hate; a time for war and a time for peace." (3:1-8 HCSB)

No light seeps in
the walls are tight
colors are grey
slowly withering
fading like a chameleon
against the colorless
curling up fetal
words pound
morals scream
he tries his face to the sky
his blinded by others
plagued by Job's brothers
the battle he fought
the work he pulled
the mouths he fed
only to fall
only to find no life
his hands tied
ears closed
senses forever missing
little eyesight remains
losing what he once was
plagued by what should be
eyes for hope missing
losing sight of what was
oppressed and beaten
by what was meant for good
"where is salvation in this place?
where is the savior you promised?"
lying in wait
remembering who he once was
