I wrote this poem based on Galatians 1:10 - "Am I now seeking the approval of man or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ."


Pleasing Christ

I seek not to glean
From men of esteem
Approval of my life

Such favor will end
When to dust they descend
Halting all worldly delight

The only consent
For which I am meant
Has neither end nor price

I seek one to please
My allegiance will be
To the eternal Christ
