You feel the shady streams that flow
to places deep dark below
from secret chambers under your shadow
beyond love's faintest glow.

Despair won't make you float,
as torrents splash you about.
Where are you going? Where are you taken?
Do you know? Do you want to know?

You may say it's not you who's raging
but waters dark beneath you.
Yet you can't deny the countenance
reflected from the surface you see.
Clearly in the shape of a man,
distorted as is it appearance.
With terrifying twistedly dark glee
willing to take what it can.

With fear and wonder
you look at the image,
but are you also the image?
Of whom? Do you know?
Do you want to know?

When you think all are sleeping,
part of you whispers what the other feared.
You want to see the world burnt to ashes,
but do you want your soul seared
when this world's temple finally crashes
reducing its gargoils to weeping.

You fled to where the water was
from everpresent drench.
But not all water quenches true thirst,
and if it's the fire you want to quench,
you need to be sprinkled or immersed first.

Come here!
Take this wing over you,
pierced with the flame.
Wrapping you in blankets
of strangely calming comfort.
Wings spanning to the new world,
anchoring the old
in the gloriously new.
Securing your place.
You are along for the ride now.

It is now finished,
but begins anew on day three.
The first day to set in motion
the budding of branches
in the only truly eternal tree.

The great undoing now starting to unravel,
giving glimpses of golden glory.
Yet plenty of miles left to travel,
a new copy written of the eternal story.

The light is growing stronger now,
how could the baffling promise turn out truer?
Though weight of healing can feel lot to bear.
The days are getting longer now,
still raging but truly bound is the ruler
of the wicked kingdom of gloomy despair.

There are some things that I would have changed if I hadn't been in a rush to get this finished and posted. And this forum only allows editing for 5 minutes, so I'll let this stand as it is for now.

You do amazing work. When I try to write something it usually takes me about three weeks!

I have to read it two or three times to wring out all of the goodness. Very cleverly subtle!

It may take a few days but I do plan to write more. I have a few unfinished poems, one of which took a step forward today but will require more work.

If you happen to be interested in interacting more with the ones that I've already written, could you perhaps post a reply on the "Sword of Death, Plough of Life" thread and list the Biblical allusions that you can pick up from that poem? I'm curious as to how many of them are evident to readers on a first or even second reading. No doubt some of the allusions are very evident, but others may be a bit more hidden or surprising.

Glad to. Patience please!
