WE ARE THOSE WHO STAND BY NIGHT
And so we stood like doves, bright,
Eager. Lights in the midnight
Of the park so sweet. Did glide
We ‘cross grasses and paths, sighed
In the blessed deep. Some plead
“No color in night.” But I
See them all effuse from bright
Into sleeping, peaceful hues.
My pups and I ‘so many
Adventures along few paths. Fused
Our delight with more furry
Friends and their people. My muse
Was an elderly ‘gent. He
Had his two mammoths. Used to
Walk buy the gate, ‘dog park, say
In the way of, “You guys done?”
“Almost.” We understood- they
Not many that do- or ‘does
But to selfish ‘not eschew
Courtesy, wisdom: love thy
Neighbor; that our pups might bruise,
Break, create need for doggy
Doctors if left together.
And we both together seemed
Capable at times to bless
And protect their play. Oft these
Furries got away from us.
So we’d take turns: I’d take the
Midnight park play, he’d take ten,
I’d take one a.m., they’d take two or
so. Met many friends of blessed,
Furry countenance back then.
Deep in the dark peace where rest
The predators and to play
We lovers of night, peace, - yes
For some strange, obscure, but we
Are those who stand by night in
The house of the Lord, tis we.
