You call a delusion
what I have accepted as the truth.
A delusion, or a state of mind I ask?
However you take it, it’s a thing that saves.
This is not apparent
in the daily comforts of our lives,
in the seeming safety of our laws,
in the burning lust of our desires.
But what will help us there and then
when our comforts, safety and desires
all melt away like snow
in the burning anguish of tribulations
which no worldly comforts can resolve?
It’s a thing that saves, I say.
What will keep our minds from breaking
when everything we know falls apart?
Will our self-proclaimed humanity remain?
Will our worldly convictions still prevail?

Because they never have, they never will
Historia est magistra vitae

You say it’s a delusion,
I say it’s a thing that saves.
If it saves indeed, a delusion it is not.
It must be something infinitely real,
more real than anything we’ve ever known.

You say it’s only comfort
but it must be more than that.
For comfort is a feeling,
what saves us is an action.
If that action brings us comfort,
it cannot be the comfort in itself.
“You will know them by their fruit.”
Comforts come and go, swinging to and fro
they need to be replenished,
always running low.
What saves is a constant, It Is with us now,
It Is when we need it most.

These thoughts have been on mind all day long yesterday, as I was running around doing errands. Everything is a blessing if we only see it that way. Our cellphones, through which so much clutter can enter our mind, can also be put to a good use to record our thoughts whenever and wherever we are.

Love you all, keep your poems and your creative works coming.

Wow, beautiful...thank you brother for the beautiful encouragement. This reached way down to the corridors of my inner dwellings.

I find so much value in poetry, a dancing if you will with words of truth.

I pray you and your family are well.

God Bless.
