Culture matters only a little in finding a good spouse and a successful marriage. Generally, people are the same wherever you go. We are all selfish. Marriage and all relationships are all risks. Marrying an asian wife will not guarantee a successful marriage. I know some of them also ended with divorce. It's more of a heart issue than a cultural issue between both husband and wife.

It would be foolish to marry someone based just on nationality. For example, if a man found a Filipina and married her thinking, "Filipina's make good wives." The Philippines has prostitutes, con artists, and drug users just like any other country. A woman could marry a French man, thinking he would be romantic. Being French wouldn't guarantee he was romantic or a good husband. We have to look at individual characteristics.

When I went to Indonesia, I was in my mid-20's, so I was at prime marrying age. Maybe I couldn't pick up on signals well before, or maybe my characteristics were a good match for Indonesian tastes, but I could tell that a lot of women suddenly seemed to be interested in me. There was some direct flirting, but also more subtle cues, that I did not always pick up on at first. I had a friend who was pale, thin, and short. He said Polish girls flirted with him, but Greek women showed no interest at all.

Be that as it may, I was selective in Indonesia. I did not just go around dating any girl that showed interest or any attractive girl that showed interest. She had to be a Christian of course, but I wanted to know what kind of person she was. It's just like dating in your home country or wherever you happen to live.

But coming from a culture where divorce is relatively uncommon, especially among Christians, where the overwhelming majority of women value things like running their home well and raising children is a big plus.

Fortunately, I don't really encounter hard-edged, man-hating feminism here. There are initiatives that have to do with women's rights. Sometimes the advocates are women wearing head-coverings, but their philosophy does not seem to be the same as US or Canadian feminists.

I was reading on a forum about men married to Asian wives. One man said that when he wanted to marry a Filipina, some people said she just wanted a Greencard, that she wanted to use him. He said about 25% of marriages to Filipinas ended in divorce in the US, but about 50% of marriages in general ended in divorce. Many American women will take away a lot of a man's wealth and a portion of his future income with the help of the courts. He asked who were the women who were really taking advantage.

I don't know where he got his 25% statistics, but that sounds lower than the general population. The Philippines has basically a 0% divorce rather because they don't have divorce in their legal system. They do have spouses who abandon, have affairs, etc. There are western men who date online and don't really get to know their potential spouses, too, and other situations like that. I'd imagine if a western man were selective with finding a Filipina bride and bringing her to the US, he'd have a better chance of not getting a divorce than if he did the same thing with an American woman, just based on what I know of the statistics.

They should be thankful that the Filipina wife only wanted the greencard unlike most american women who are so greedy they want everything. Lol!

Some Filipinas want greencards only. Some fell in love. Some Americans also fell in love. Some want a Filipina for wife, get them insurance and kill them, make it look like an accident and then claim insurance. And some americans marry a Filipina wife so they can stretch their dollar power in the Philippines and run businesses here. Some Filipinas have the american dream while some americans also have the Filipino dream.

Well I can cook (just about) we had lamb in red wine and red current sauce
Christmas Day and pork loin shanks with apple sauce New Year's Day.

I don't drive at all, I like the colour purpley burgundy pink, thats my hair colour but
it's short. I also fixed the tumble dryer last week. There was a strange odour while
doing some drying and a noticed the electric walksocket and cable was red hot.
So I stripped the cable back and changed the plug, and hey presto, problem solved.

I try not to burp but better out than in, I don't want a green card, no kids and I'm
single, never married. I have a nice sun tan as well - half Asian looking.
But I'm still looking for a hubby who can cook and help with the
gardening (I do all that as well hedge cutting, weeding, mowing lawn). I play the
saxophone as well so a musical piano playing husband would be nice - so I suppose
you guys are out of the picture. I guess I will have to look for a Filipino husband. :p

I wonder how many people are going to burn for buying that hot sauce. I wouldn't want to support some a disrespectful marketing campaign.

If you post your picture in your avatar, you may be more likely to find a husband among the single guys in the Singles forum. Guys are funny like that.

I think it's okay if women burp, but try to do it discreetly. That would generally mean not opening up her mouth at the same time and trying to make a loud noise.

I can just see some men on this forum face-palming and thinking "How on earth will I be compatible? Piano? Cooking? I can barely mow the lawn!"

;)

Pretty cool Miri. Pretty cool. You do know that youve somehow turned the tables on this thread. Yup The thread is officially on its head. Its somehow transforming to "What a woman wants in a man."

Take it from a man with 4 daughters.... girls burp and fart plenty! And they're pretty proud of themselves too. Wait till they have a slumber party. However.... they're still not as bad as boys!

Several years ago I was a camp counselor and we had about 30 boys in one bunk room. The air was so TOXIC, wehad the window open at 15 degrees half the night! I just remember laying there thinking; is there any way that I can be a girl counselor? I know how to protecttheir privacy and everything.....please, please???

So what's the point in my post? Boys are gross!

See what all those years of living with girls has done to me? I even sound like one...

Several years ago I was a team leader on a children's camp, (did it every year for around 10
years), usually we had around 8-10 kids in each team and "bunk room".

No problems like that with the girls at all. :D

I know the boy's rooms had plenty of grossness though!
