So there's this girl that you like (or guy, for the girls), and everything about her is tops, except, she (or he, again, for the ladies), has this awful bad breath. And everytime she speaks to you , you have to hold your breath so you don't smell anything, or turn your head so you aren't looking at them when they speak, to avoid the bad breath. I don't know if' its being rude to politely tell her about it or offer her a fresh mint?
But it reminds me of the Seinfeld episode, about the "man hands", but I don't think this is that superficial.

lol i dont think you should tell her about it, even politely.. thatd be embarrassing. but no its not a no-go... id probably ask one of his friends if he had some gum disease where he couldnt help it and if so, why he didnt chew more gum.. orrrr... if he didnt have some disease.. ask if its always like this, and if it is.. idno maybe then haha. i guess its circumstantial. but if theyre one of those ppl with that disease that causes you to constantly have bad breath, we need to show some sympathy for sure :)

It would prevent kissing before marriage. Maybe before each date, the guy and gal should ingest high amounts of garlic.

LOL, 1still_waters.

I'm hoping other people have some good advice concerning this one because I have been debating about this very subject with a co-worker the past several months (JUST a co-worker, NOT a romantic interest.)

He's 24, gone through (and is still going through) a rebellious phase... but the kicker is... he'll complain about the way OTHER people smell when he has some of the most noxious cigarette/alcohol/doesn't-brush-his-teeth-during-a-ten-hour-shift breath I've ever encountered... (if you throw garlic into the mix, I am pretty sure I'll pass out immediately upon contact the next time he talks to me) and I'm wondering what to say to him, if anything.

(I guess the good thing is that it makes you self-aware--I store a toothbrush and toothpaste in my locker at work and am sure to use them after every time I eat.)

I like 1still_waters answer, lol but if I was the one with the bad breath,I'd want someone to tell me,for sure.I had start of gum diease so I started to get bad breath, but i got my teeth deep clean,it take 2 trips n my mouth was so numb,I hate pain,n dentists.I brush n floss ,more now,I can fit thoses tiny little brushes in between my teeth now lol but yes, tell me,I'd want to no.be honest with her,if she knows she has a diease, then I'm sure she is use to people telling her. or take out a piece of gum for urself n offer her a piece of gum, pray first, pray she takes the bait,if u can't b honest with her. I'm sorry I can't b around or kiss anyone with bad breath or cigarette breath or even booze breath YUCK.it makes me very sick,I'm not joking.I make my husband brush his teeth b4 he kisses me lol
God Bless DJ

I would definitely raise this issue with her. Make it clear that you like her but that her breath makes you sick, but let her know that despite her breath, you're willing to enter into a relationship with her and work on her breath issues together. Its a win-win situation.

p.s. there are other more discreet ways to let someone know they have bad breath. when they come over to talk to you, take a step back, or maybe a few steps. I do this at work and people seem to get it.

Just one question - should I wear the mask or do I try to get her to put it on herself? Who wears the mask?!

Sharp, I'll bet you get TONS of dates... with or without the masks... :)

I wish I could get away with wearing one of those masks at work...

LOL, I meant you wear it but yes either one of you could wear it I suppose, it would stop her breath escaping if she wore it, or perhaps both then you could be matching.

Well mahogony before you try to find an easy fix. You have to consider what she's going through. Maybe the reason why she has bad breath is because she was probably born with an odor. You've got to go to God about this.
