Righto, here is another fill in the blank thread... I think these tend to be a safe way for Anyone to post, a way to generate some introspection (which can and should lead to growth), a good way to start conversations (PLEASE, no preaching at other people on this thread! If you feel That Moved, then PM them), a safe way to share trouble that may be on our hearts, and what the kids these days call "fun."
Please fill in the All the blanks. :) The prompt is:
I feel I let __(person)__ down when ____________. I feel I let __(another person)__ down when _____________. I feel I let God down when _____________.

I'll go first with:
I feel I let my family (kids, parents, church, others) down when it came down to divorce. I feel I let one of my kids down when I check public records and the DA hasn't yet filed charges on their mother for what she did. I feel I let God down when I pick back up baggage that I had intended to leave with Him.

see that simple. :)

I feel I let myself down when I didn't follow through with the promises I made about myself to change specific areas. I feel like a failure in many ways because of it. I feel I let my mother down when it turned out that I wasn't exactly what/who she wanted me to be. I know she'd say differently, but you'd have to know my mom. I feel I let God down when I've held onto some anger, bitterness, and strife in regards to my dad leaving. There's still that little girl inside me who ends up crying in a heap saying to God, "Why couldn't you just change him? Why couldn't you make him stay?"

I feel like my divorce was the biggest mutual let-down for both myself, my family, and God. I let God down by choosing what I wanted instead of letting Him choose.

But... I also sometimes feel let down by God as well. I know that will bring on some heavy criticism but my number one question for other Christians is, "Have you ever been mad at God?" Most will say no. Often, they're mad at everyone else... but not God. I am the opposite--I go to God with my worst feelings because I know no one around me can handle them.

I try to be grateful for my blessings, I really do. But then things would happen like joining a prayer team and praying for the mother-to-be... we could all feel the baby kick every Sunday and prayed our hearts out... but the baby died anyway during birth and I know I felt punched in the heart for that precious young woman (and yes, she had been married a few years so I hope people out there won't say she was somehow being punished for some sin.)

The most life-changing book I've ever read besides the Bible was "Disappointment with God" by Philip Yancey--he points out that God wants us to be honest and that He can handle any emotion or thought we may have.

Jesus, on the cross, yelled, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

So I know He understands how I feel, no matter how bad.

In my not so humble opinion anyone who says they've never been angry with God is lying. They may not be aware of the fact they're lying, but they are. Even atheists are mad at God! It is very rare to find someone who has neutral or indifferent feelings towards God. It is also possible to love someone, be angry, hurt, etc with/at them as well. People won't admit to being angry at God because 1) they've been taught it's "wrong" and 2) they fear retribution. God can take our anger. I say that if you're angry, rage! Just deal with the feelings and forgive God.

seoulsearch and DuchessAimee, preach it, sista!!

That's all I wanted to say, because I can't bring myself to type my own personal one at this time. It's not that I don't know what it is. I just...can't put it into words just yet. :/

Don't worry about it. If you want to write it down just for you, do it. You don't have to share it until you're ready.

I feel I let(my children) down when I couldn't make things work with my ex. I feel I let (people) down when I can't seem to open up to them or let my guard down. I feel I let (God) down when I try to take my walk with Him and make it work the way I think it should.

I encourage anyone who knows answers for this that they would rather not post, to put them instead down on a Post-it note, and post that somewhere you feel safe with your answer being. My answers have been prayer points for me to focus on today. It's been helpful for me. Maybe you can find it helpful, too.

I think almost everyone of us, if we are honest with ourselves, will have to confess that we have at times been mad at God. The truth is, we want our way, all the time, and when we want it, even if it's not good for us. And when God tells us no, we act like little children whose parent's tell them no. We think God is being mean to us, and selfish, when in reality, we are the ones being selfish. And then at some point we realize God was right all along even if we don't understand why. We forget that God's ways are not our ways. That He sees the bigger picture while we only see just a glimpse of the sand.

I feel I let my wife down when I fail to understand everything she wants before she asks for it. I feel I let my kids down when I fail to correct them or don't know exactly how to handle a situation. I feel I let God down when I limit him with my weak faith.

I feel I let my ex-wife down when she wanted to quit her job,but we both needed to work in order to pay the bills, thus feeling like a bad provider and not much of a man. I feel I let my Mom down when I told her I was getting divorced because she was so happy for us both & thought I'd finally found "the one". I feel I let God down when I wake up most mornings.

I feel I let the neighbors down when my grass gets awkwardly tall. I feel I let a certain friend down when delay responding to their emails for an excessive length of time. I feel I let God down when I discover that I am growing bitter towards the woman who is divorcing me.
