Personally no. I am a private person. There were many moments when I thought companionship would be nice, but I am often content with being a lone wolf.

AbbeyJones, I pray that God will give you contentment, regardless of your friends' dating life or lack thereof. God can help you.

I'm all "oh, thank goodness I don't have to go out all the time like those poor people do". Hahahaa.

I'm sorry for the loneliness Abbey. Hang in there...

I have that feeling quite often, so while I don't know what exactly you're experiencing, I can sympathize. Then I just remember that before I can be comfortable with someone else, I have to be comfortable with myself. No such thing as lonliness when you've got yourself to talk to right?

I was married over 25 years and was suddenly without. I dated but being in my 50's every man I dated had a problem with me having kids still at home. (As if I needed a babysitter for almost-grown children) The last man made me feel like having kids at home was a plague or something and I lost all confidence in ever finding a man who could possibly care for me and my children. It is a very lonely and hopeless feeling. I have gone deeper into the Word and in spending time with the Lord. He is enough for me, nobody else can fill that empty spot. I have learned to get back into things I love (for me, knit and crochet) and enjoy my time without somebody. There is a lot one can do for others with the free time of being single. I still have lonely days. I've watched other people around me date and marry and I feel left out, but I have to get my focus back on Who is really taking care of me and meeting all my emotional needs.

Nah, I just curl up in bed under the covers and watch a good movie.

Single life is too awesome to let these moments slip away! :D

I've been there... it was at its worst when I was married and still felt that.
(so much baggage in so few words)

I stay active in a weekly ministry that meets Every Friday night (unless the roads are impassable or there is a tornado). These people are Seriously family to me. I also do work up at the church with a group *most* Monday nights. stack that on attending church 3x's a week and I don't have much time for lonely.

...but when it sets in, I know it is of the devil and I fight it as best I can. Sometimes, though, it takes owning the emotion for a while to work through it.

God's given me more reasons to be out and social lately, and that is a blessing indeed!

I've had that feeling a tiny bit every so often, but I think if one of my gal pals got married I would be really feeling it to be honest.

Yeah, what he said. If I find THE ONE for me, cool... but there's a lot of stuff I like to do in the meantime. ;)

Have you seen this as being jealous?

You feel lonely because you are somewhat "left" and you wish (ed) to go with those who went on somewhere.

I don't know what your physical situation is but, the hermit me, have found solace in being alone inside crowds or alone, my tiny house (but I like more my house).

I wouldn't dislike to know why you felt alone when those went away with those who picked them out. That sounded, to me, as childish, as if you were really younger, like a teenager and probably you are alone when you're left alone your place, your room, whereever you are.

I'm just sharing this as my impression. I don't want to hurt you by any offense, but I liked this as something good I can "see" inside you pouring out for recognition (I could be wrong, but I don't mind being wrong all the time, and alone).

I just quit going out places.. it works.
It might spare you a couple of things but, being almost a true hermit, I know I have missed a couple of things out.

If you have a look on this "story" I wrote, you could see some few important things I was missing, because LIFE does not spin around people's selfishness or hurt ideas, we all need a balance (and, by time, we all are going to be left all alone sometime).

I can relate, Abbey. Actually, in my case, many are married... It's kind of strange and a long story on my part, but all that aside, I can relate. Romance movies do the same thing to me, actually. It's sort of sweet and wistful at first, but then the contrast and memories/old feelings come back to haunt me. It ends up being sad and a bit painful, so I try to avoid such movies, lol.

Anyway...that was cheerful. ^^0 Hang in there, Lady. Everything's gonna be alright.
