Actually, Gabe, it was more than a dream. It was an answer to a question I had been praying about. To be honest, I don't like the answer, but I trust Him. :)
I deleted my post, but since it was something you were praying about then what I was thinking doesn't apply, which is good!

Other. However God chooses to speak to us. I am always wiery when someone tells me that God told them to do something. Many people do not test it. Claiming they have heard God say this or that can be dangerous. I've heard enough stories about false claims. That said, I have had dreams that I could say we're from God. I had a dream of the end of the world, but I didn't go stand on the street corner claiming that I am a prophet, shouting 'the end is near, repent or burn'. I believe it was symbolic not literal, and spoke to me on other levels at the time.

I didn't see an option for "through my radio's speaker"...

So often I find that women won't commit to being in a relationship because they haven't heard from God. There hasn't been the angel in the dream that wakes them in the night to tell them its okay.

The Mormons say to test scripture by reading it and feeling a burning in the bosom. But as Christians we know better...

right?

Um, not so sure, as one can point to something in the scripture and misinterpret it. Someone who's a new Christian may become led astray early on and not learn to distinguish the voice of the Holy Spirit from the voice of self or Satan or Demons. And people are constantly looking for signs to confirm what they believe.

When I say that the Bible is the Word of God, I'm referring to the Written Word, not our Messiah. There are things in the Bible that only God could reveal to man. Such as the Creation, His Law, and Revelations. In that, this is perfect, because it comes from God. Translations are a different matter. Anytime man recopies the Bible, or attempts to translate it, there is a chance for mistakes. In fact, there were specific requirements that the priests had to do when they made mistakes in their copies. God considered mistakes to be serious, because He does not want the People of God to be led astray. So the content of the Bible itself is perfect.

As for putting it above the Holy Spirit, no where in my post did I say we are to take the Bible over the Holy Spirit. What I did say was: "The Holy Spirit guides us to passages that reflect on areas that God is directly dealing with us on." I agree that the Holy Spirit is our Guide, our teacher.

Mark, I'm not sure if you assumed that this poll was a one choice, or if realized that it was multiple options. Many of the people who said they hear from God through the Bible, also said they hear from God through the Holy Spirit, as in, the Holy Spirit speaks directly to their heart, when they are not reading the Bible, talking to others, in a dream, etc.
I understand. Just something within my own personal conviction after having been so religious at one point that I was not able to know God personally. That is probably why I get so fired up about it. lol

That's cool. I think it's awesome when people are passionate about God.

By the way, I respect people more who are passionate about what they believe.

I think God will use whatever he needs to to speak, get someone's attention, etc. Paul spoke to donkey for goodness sake! He's always operated via visions, audible speakings, the written word, the arts, creation, through people, and sin for that matter. Therefore, I do not think He has stopped.

I've had dreams, visions, various interactions with demons and angels, words of wisdom and knowledge, and other things as well. People talk about not being able to feel God's presence, and I can't say I understand that. He's always around, sometimes so close I feel smothered. And y'all can tell me that's not God, blah blah blah, but I know it is. The "smothering" is my issue and he's using it to teach me something. But that's a whole other story. You wanna know, PM me.

God is God and we are not. I find a lot of comfort in that.

Question:
The dream that Nebuchadnezzar had. Was it from God or not? Look into this and see what God shall show you.
Nebuchadnezzar's dream was from God. Why?

Bill Hybels wrote a book called Whispers. It was pretty good on the subject. God can speak to us by any means.
