Something Servant strike said about Plastic internal combustion engines cued my memory for discussions I would have with myself as a kid.

So... If you could go back in time with just the knowledge that you have and nothing more.

to say 700 BC.

What could you tell the Locals (We'll assume Isrealites or Persians for the sake of whatever)

Like what kind of Technology could explain that would be beneficial to them?

The Wing, the screw, steam power, gunpowder, what would be a major contribution that you could "Invent" then?

The modern stirrup is the first that comes to mind. It would be fairly simple to reproduce with the technology they had.

I have been thinking and thinking, and I've come to the conclusion that I have no knowledge that would be of any use to anyone in 700BC. I feel extremely sad about this. Worst time traveler ever.

I suppose I could teach proper sanitary practices in order to avoid the plague. I might be able to improve on their footwear with my arch support knowledge, and let someone smarter than me know about the moldy bread discovery. But inventions...? *sigh*

I think the whole concept of layered refracted clear glass poses a significant challenge.

A telescope might have to come first.

I don't quite know about modern medicine thing. Like I don't know how to make antibiotics out of mold or anything.

But if you could explain to a bronze age civilization, this stuff that would be cool.

would be difficult to make a microscope without an example to copy from. I dont know about antibioctics but you can get stuff to kill bactiria from plants, also just teaching them about microbiology would be good, I could also teach them how to make and use power aswell as black power and usfull chemicals

You are likely to be stone as a devil. Just about every prophet was killed for giving God's Word over the time frame.

Hmmm... I'd just tell them to teach their kids not to go to war against anyone

I could probably bring some concept of chemistry but, I don't know any chemicals, and I don't know how to use plants to kill bacteria.

Also, remember in Castaway when he made a Calendar? That was pretty cool.

I would probably be blown away by the technology that they have at that time that I simply don't know about and haven't learned about. Like how does a "Floating Garden" work?

That has to be one of the most unwise things you can tell any civilization.
Really? You scare me.
Would the opposite be better you think?...... Telling them to go to war?

Do you honestly believe the only alternative is the opposite of what you stated?
