I'm going to be out and about over the next couple of weeks. If I'm in your neck of the woods, and we can make it happen, I'm up for grabbing a bite to eat, or just a drink and a round of pool or bowling or something. (I know I'm not super tight with EVERYONE on this forum, but anyone who's up for hanging out for an evening with the ol' Shour, this be for you.)

Current plan is as follows:

June 4 - drive to Tucson, but probably won't be available
June 5 - drive to San Francisco/Bay area, should be available in the evening for a bite
June 6 to June 12 - drive to Seattle/Tacoma area, definitely booked on the 6th, pretty flexible the rest of the time (even mornings and days, probably)
June 13 - fly back to El Paso
June 14 - drive to Dallas/Fort Worth
June 15/16 -in Dallas/Fort Worth, probably a little flexible

If you're in the area I'm visiting, and you're interested in meeting for meat or a beverage, shoot me a PM!

b/c you totally should move to OKC instead... just not Moore.

the storms have predictable paths (within a few miles) that they typically travel through here... find yerself a job & then I'll help you locate housing outside of the typical Danger Zone.

Hmmm, I-5 through the central valley in the summer and get a barbeque, or drive the 101 up the coast and not get a barbeque............that's a rough choice IMO.

I should point out that I have very little control over my routes, as the purpose of the trip is to help my buddy get his truck up to SeaTac (hence why I am flying back), and I don't know what routes he plans to take. I only know where we will be parking each night. Since we're tag teaming the drive, if I stay out late one night (or say, get up extra early for breakfast with a friend), it's not a big deal, since I can snag an extra 2-3 hours of sleep in the passenger seat. It's also why I can't stop in the middle of a leg of driving. My buddy wants to see his wife ASAP! ^_^

I'm glad to hear this.... I was a bit concerned about that hop from S.F. to Seattle after traveling so far already. Glad you have someone to share the load.

If your going to the Phillipines, here's your ride, seatbelted. Just got to, as your question relates, bring plenty of gas cans :D

Actually, I was informed earlier today that we will indeed be lodging in Sacramento rather than San Francisco. My buddy said we should avoid the Bay area, because traffic is unbearable. (Apparently, the movie Bullitt has been lying to me this whole time.)

Crashing at a Holiday Inn (Elk Grove) and will be looking for someplace to dine...Herder, care to join us? Suggestions?

Let's see....being from El Paso, the last thing you probably want is Mexican...

Hot Italian in midtown (Sacto) is pretty good for pizza and other Italiany things - casual, fun and loud.
The Sandwich Spot (Sacto again) has Reubens to die for. I think they close at 7. Not sure when you will get in town.
Fox & Goose - good pub fare and live music. No cover.
Edokko - good Japanese (not sushi).
some good places in Old Town too.

Depends on what you are in the mood for.

You'll be in tomorrow, right? I'll PM you my contact info.

Good news, everyone! CatHerder is NOT a serial killer. Although he might be a cereal killer, since we had burgers and not cereal, I do not know for sure.

In all seriousness, I did get to fellowship with the ol' Herd-meister for about an hour or so tonight, and it was truly a blessing. Downtown Sacramento seems quite lovely and charming (and I'm not talking about the pretty redhead who was at the burger joint), and I look forward to visiting again. ^_^
