It's cold and rainy, and I was so tired that I forgot to pick up something for dinner on the way home tonight. And I don't want to swim back out, so I cleaned out the frig. :)

Leftover mac&cheese mixed with a little bit of diced ham, a couple of spoons of REAL bacon bits, a little onion, a few frozen peas, 5 minutes in the microwave......and called it dinner. It was actually very good. Might do it again sometime. On purpose.

So, what things have you thrown together for dinner? The stranger, the better. :)

Cheese really shouldn't be tortured in razor sharp machinery then bound in little sheets of plastic to suffocate.

Cheese is a living organism... that's inhumane.

Where's the love?

Every now and again, I like to do creative stuff with leftovers. If I have the energy to make a pie crust, I'll put them in a pot pie or pasty. But my favorite thing to do is make appetizers:

Appetizers can be made with lots of leftover stuff and are more fun to eat than a real dinner because you can forget such silly table manners like staying seated while you eat, and you can forgo utensils! And if you put them on a bed of lettuce or cabbage, it looks nice and you kind of forget that you are having salad.

That poor cheese gave its life for this thread. *sniffle* I'm so sorry. I was trying to find "singles foods". I'll go eat dirt now....

*shuffles off in shame*

Smokey links wrapped in bacon and baked in brown sugar.....*drool*. I have to RUN from those or I'll eat the whole pan. :)

A few days ago I discovered the joy of eating a bowl of chili kinda like a dip with those new wavy Cheezits....you know...speaking of foregoing those "silly table manners". :)

lol @ "forget that you are having salad"
(such a guy thing to say :p)

I sometimes like a scrambled tuna sandwich. Mix up tuna, mayo, whatever you usually put in tuna, then crumble the bread up in the bowl.

DOES NOT WORK with store bread. Only with bread that has a little texture and a good "crumb" quality.

Hard boil eggs. Peel and cut in half. Put a small sliver of sharp cheddar on each half. If the eggs are not hot enough to semi-melt the cheese, can microwave for a (very) few seconds. Eat.

I like to fry rice and cut up hot dogs in it. :) Maybe even a little onion or curry powder for pizzazz.

It was a day before payday and I was down to condiments and a can of beans just a very few eggs so for dinner my 3 year old daughter and I ate beans and scrambled eggs as it was the only thing left in the house. I got paid the next day and bought groceries....My daughter is 34 now so that was many moons ago and we were a lot poorer back then....But we never went hungry ever....God is good.

I remember college days..... a pack of cheese, a bottle of ketchup, a loaf of bread and a box of macaroni. You can do a lot with that. :)

I've had an entire weekend of meals consisting solely of things my kids didn't finish. (They were off visiting their mom.)

Hot dogs and rice. That would have been my contribution to this thread. Sometimes I eat it just because I like it. Especially with mayonnaise. :)

Heat up pinto beans in a bowl with cheese, then add peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, and scoop the whole mess up with corn chips. I eat that meal waaaaaaay too often.

Pizza eggs. Take a slice of leftover pizza, scrape the cheese and toppings off into a pan, add eggs, scramble. While cooking it, eat the crust with some butter.

What? You've never had scrambled cheese and eggs? That's basically what this is, with a little onion, mushroom, bell pepper or whatever thrown in. Call it a scrambled omelette if you want, all those things are in a good western style omelette.

I was under weight and I had to eat things to help me gain pounds so I made a peanut butter and butter sandwich and melted it in the microwave for 30 seconds. then I get a fork a large glass of milk and strangely it was tasty, it was like the peanut flavor from the peanut butter was intensified from being melted and the melted butter made my bread tasty while giving a sort of salty taste to the peanut butter. If you are not underweight and do not want to gain pounds never try this.
