Because this is how chat almost always seems to go for me and its probably the same for a lot of other people as well...

1. Log on, Enter chat lounge - nothing remotely interesting going on (people just being bored or silly)

2. Check other rooms

3. Bible study room - folks getting way too serious about something or other

4. Prayer room - empty

5. Youtube room - not empty, but playing videos of music I'm really not into :p

6. Singles room - always empty

7. Other rooms - empty

8. Go back to lounge and wait for something interesting to happen

9. Get sick of waiting and log off :p

10. Ah, the forums. :)

Most of the time, when I have gone on chat, I get:

1. a bunch of people cracking wise about my log-on name, linking to cat herding cartoons and commercials

2. inane chatter in which I have no desire to engage

3. karaoke brought to you by people who think they are good

4. people dominating the microphone

5. empty rooms, other than the main lounge

This could just be me, but finding a good conversation one-to-one in chat is pretty rare, and I don't have the time to sit there and go through all the chatters in the room to see if we can get past all the "How are you today?" small talk.

I envy the people who have enough time to sit in the chat rooms for hours... I just don't.

However, I am guilty of being logged in for long amounts of time as I go about my daily life and then check back in on the threads when I have a few spare minutes.

Now if someone was going to arrange a time or regular meeting when a group of cool posters from singles were all going to be in the chat room at once, I would definitely try to make it a date!

But what about the un-cool posters? What are WE gonna do?

Lol, no worries, Cat. I'd be part of the "uncool" (and old) crowd...

So I guess it would be just me sitting in the room talking to myself.

Which is exactly how it is now when I go into the Singles Chat Room!

chat users and forum users are often not the same group, except for sme overlap. ots generally two sets of people.
also most people hang out in lounge so its a alrve group of singles anyways.

I think the word "date" in post #5 is the key to your question. Most of the posters who come to the forums are not looking for a date or to be hit on, as often happens in chat. Friendships seem to have longer shelf lives than online dating.

Most of us are very busy people. We can post here in the forums at our convenience and still keep the dialogue going without being bombarded by PMers who just want to say "hai" while we are trying to have a conversation in main chat.

Well, as I said, Seekingg, one of the reasons I'm not in chat is because I have a very busy, and often changing, schedule. Chat really isn't my thing anyway... There used to be a few really good leaders in chat I loved to listen to, but I haven't had the time to just sit there for a while hoping someone I can converse with will show up.

So, since you are posting your own concerns about an empty Singles Chat Room, I would suggest that you would be the perfect candidate to start such a group in chat on a regular basis. :) Let us know when you've scheduled it... and I'm pretty sure a few of us would make our best efforts to show up.

I hope I don't seem rude, but I personally feel that when someone makes a post like this, they should be the one to initiate the change instead of trying to assign other people to what THEY think should change... In other words... if you post something that should be changed, I highly believe you've just nominated yourself to start making the changes! :)

LOL, Nod.

Good point!! I don't know what's more ungodly... The ungodly chat sites... or the arguments that go on in the Bible Discussion Forum.

*shudders from the cold, cold wind of the Bible Discussion door being left open*

The chat rooms consist of either arguments over the bible, then arguments over arguing about the bible OR the high school room (lounge) where you can expect to be ignored unless your one of the cool kids.

Ain't nobody got time for that ;)

One day, in time, God will bring me a nice girl who is blessed with a great abundance of extremely low standards, poor judgement, and bad eyesight... and we'll fall madly in love. :)

Until then, I just don't have time for dating.

: )
