I was thinking, a few hours ago, about something that's been going on the past couple of years. A family member of mine had a very serious illness, and I thought I would lose them, but (thank God) they are doing great now.

I thought about how much good and growth had come from the whole situation, for me at least, and I'm sure for them as well. It was scary, it was painful, but it was indeed used for good. I thought to myself, "sometimes God gives us gifts, but they're wrapped up in thorns."

...and then I couldn't hold back tears as I suddenly remembered one very literal Gift, who was wrapped in very literal thorns.

Happy Easter, everyone.

Thorns are for protection. They are necessary in the current world.

Won't be no thorns in Heaven cause there won't be no need for them.
