Hello folks,

This is my first post here on these forums. I am deciding to ask for some help with the issue of lust. Sometimes I am just walking to classes or lunch and see women and suddenly have really perverted, nasty thoughts. When I realize that I am thinking this, I very much want to punch my self in the face, and many times I do show outward signs of my disgust without even meaning to. It is really frustrating because of how some women dress these days, which doesn't leave as much to the imagination as in the past. It seems like right now the only way to be free of this is to leave the company of the other sex entirely, yet that is unreasonable of course. Even friends who I know better are subject to these evil thoughts. I would have thought that knowing them better would allow me to see their inner value and not their outer qualities. I have prayed many times for help from this issue, yet I am still fighting. Has anyone here had any success with this issue?

Has anyone here had any success with this issue?
Yes, and assuming you're a Christian I'd first recommend praying even more often and consistently, in addition to reading the book of Romans all the way through. Lust (like any other sin) is defeated only through faith in God's work.

Hello folks,

This is my first post here on these forums. I am deciding to ask for some help with the issue of lust. When I realize that I am thinking this, I very much want to punch my self in the face, and many times I do show outward signs of my disgust without even meaning to. Yes definitely in school I actually walked in on a girl mooning a friend and a perverted thought came to mind and ironically this happened because I was upset and speed walked to class from lunch and didn't know how to feel on one hand some guys would probably say "well that must have been awesome"but for me I was more like "what just happened" and thankfully didn't draw attention to myself further though she told me "sorry you saw my butt" which didn't help things couldn't been worse if I was "paying attention" but really I was like "get me out of here".
Perverted thoughts come and go and well the best "remedy" is "new memories" as well "bible reading" I remembered my memory because it's "hard to forget" because it was "so scary" some might kid me for saying that but I was "scared to death" that a teacher would walk in and "assume something" since I was "unwillingly involved" in a simple gag amongst friends(one of the lamest usually by guys) but some "memories" can "overlap" the "bad ones" or at the very least "get your mind on some other thought" like along with bible study I watch PBS kids which has helped me to "not think on" things like "the past" or even "perverted thoughts".
And as per your question,Yes I have had success lately for a few reasons...
1.been staying up watching Tv with a mental relative to keep him from going ballistic
2.I've been listening to gospel songs
3.been watching primarily "whole some family entertainment" like PBS kids,Andy Griffith show and so on
4.Been reading the bible out loud at home while around said relative
5.still have not been cursing for sometime now(a few years) it may not sound like this helps but it does because as you may or may not know many curse words are "perverted" if you at least don't like saying them then chances are you won't be likely to "think the words"
Of course this is just what has helped me and a little on how in case you are baffled why I posted my story, that "sin finds you" what I mean by this is that in the world try as we might we are going to at sometime witness.."indecent or disturbing things" that may require "resistance" or that we "seek an escape" from conflict like in my story any variety of things could I have said or done but I decided to"say nothing" and "sit down at my desk" I wasn't even saved back then but we all have "choices" that can lead to "who we become in Christ".

Re: Trouble with Lust (Pass if you don't want to read about this "messy" topic)

God created you with hormones to be attracted to the opposite sex, so its completely normal to have desires. Sexual immorality is committing adultery and fornication, but controlled lust is not evil per se.. If no one had natural sexual desires (lust), no one would marry, and our species would cease to exist. We are all flesh & blood and prone to lust, but as long as you don't fall to temptation and act upon those desires, no sin is committed... jmo

"But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death."
(James 1: 14-15)

Memorize scripture on the subject and the Lord will bring them to memory when you need them.

According to the bible you can have sex with whoever you want. You just have to let them live with you til they cheat or die.

Re: Trouble with Lust (Pass if you don't want to read about this "messy" topic)

This helps me out brother:

[h=1]Proverbs 5 King James Version (KJV)[/h]5 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:
2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.
3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:
4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.
5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.
6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.
7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.
8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:
9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:
10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;
11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,
12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;
13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!
14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.
15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.
16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.
17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.
18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.
19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.
20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?
21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings.
22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.
23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.
