Just because those particular several men lied to you about their ages, doesn’t necessarily mean that all the men that you will encounter in the future will lie to you about their ages.
yea I know but I didnt say all men lied to me I just said SOME men did so I would actually check first.

please dont assume stuff I didnt say!

Im just wondering why they would lie though. seems like a silly thing to lie about. If you cant be honest about your age, then what else cant you be honest about?

although several children I know dont actually know how old they are, either they dont celebrate birthdays or they just forgot.

Its not like trees where if you cut them open you can count the number of rings. Some people dont keep track I suppose.

I didn’t assume anything, you said it yourself that you “don’t trust people anymore” - see below in bold. Come to think of it, you said “people”, which means both men and women.

I have had several men lie to me about their age so I dont really trust what people say anymore.

regarding their age.

it just seems a common and acceptable thing to lie about it. Lots of people do this and joke they are 21. So you cant take what they say at face value. My mum even lied about her age shes got two birthdates...but this was done for immigration purposes, by her parents. I get confused about when her real birthday is.

So it pays to actually check....people just dont always tell the truth. Only Jesus tells the truth Ive found. even church people fudge and make up stuff when it comes to how old they are, as if they are ashamed of it. I dont know why, but they do. so I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt, but you know, you can always look up their records.

when people tried to borrow R stuff from the library, they would often lie. I found even their parents lied and said it was OK when they know it isnt, so even parents cant be trusted.

people would lie about their age to get into clubs and bars too. Just seems like a common thing to do.

I had a workmate who used his grandmas gold card (for over 65s) to get free public transport. as long as nobody asked him, he didnt even feel bad about it. He just assumed everyone did this.

Is this the hangover after the party?

I have had several men lie to me about their age so I dont really trust what people say anymore. To find out their real age I need to look at their passport or drivers licence or ask them some pointed questions about history. when they talk about what it was like growing up I get a clue if its way before my time. They expect me to understand and Im like I wasnt there, sorry.
Even Passports can be forged.

I'd insist on a DNA sample, and if he refuses, switch drinking glasses with him while he uses the facilities!

Maybe you could start a thread about it. I wonder how many will admit lying about their age. I could only guess a few possible reasons like ; some men are patholical liars, some like the girl a lot that they don't want to be rejected, some pick up on the girl's energy where she always expect to be lied at or she has trust issues and so on.

Mid-thirties is my sweet spot. I used to date men my age (forties) but I found greater compatibility with men slightly younger. Temperament and mindset were the primary factors.

wazza???

the last one was like..really. that is their excuse...a girls energy where she always expects to be lied to??????

um ok.

Now just how do girls have this 'energy' of welcoming lies?

and what about boys?

I teach a lot of girls, and I also teach boys, and as far as I can tell, they dont want to be lied to.
If their parents are gonna lie to them, Im not going to copy that example.

If they want to figure out my age, I just give them the year I am born and they can do the maths.

Wow! How often does that happen - meeting someone that close to your age...?

Pretty-much limits you to your twin sister, doesn't it...

The last person I was dating she is 7 days younger than me. That’s the closest I’ve met.

For some reason, I am less suspicious of older guys. Is that naive?
Not necessarily.

"It depends..."

There's all types - young and old.

However, I would estimate that - in general - to the younger guys, you are more likely to be a sexual conquest - whereas, to the older guys, they are more likely to have a better appreciation for you-as-a-person. (not just a 'physical' interest)

Needless to say, sexual conquest can be the reason for a man of any age (and, it would be naive to think otherwise); however, I am suggesting that the general propensity would [at least hopefully] be as I described in the previous paragraph.

Be wise and careful in any case.

I used to frequent a forum which focused on relationships in the past. Some of the members were in similar circles for over a decade in various venues. We were able to create profiles and add images too. Most shared what they desired in a companion. I did the same and included an age requirement. I wanted someone near my age and requested inquiries under forty.

I’ve never received more arguments, rants, and attempts to sway my thinking. Some chided me for discriminating. I laughed it off. There were some who were really wound up. It was pretty surreal.

I recall someone who tried to pretend he was younger. He was beyond my threshold and my mentor spotted the lie and told me how to recognize signs of aging and the nuances of elasticity on the face and neck.

For most, online exchanges place a greater primacy on physical appearance. Age can suggest a diminishment of energy, health issues, or poor virility. I used to converse with someone whose spouse was 18 years older. His desire for sex began to wane in her 50s. She was honest about the difficulties but loved him nonetheless. I appreciated her candor.

Some people distort the truth out of fear and others are diabolical. The majority want someone who’ll love them as-is. Society weaves many tales about the sexes. But most prove untrue in the long run.

I don't really like younger than me and up to about eight years older.
