I have just recently became a follower, and I know that your sins will be forgiven if you repent them, and that Jesus died for our sins. Does anyone ever feel extremely guilty for sins they have done, and keep doing? I have had sex in the past before i became a Christian, and am just now choosing to not have sex. I know I was forgiven for that sin, but I constantly feel guilty. Like I will never be pure in Gods eyes and disobeyed one of his sacred rules. I also sometimes feel guilty about trying not to sin..but, do the same sin and repent. Any help with this? and one more question, in Hebrews if it says we all fall short of God, and we just need to believe in Jesus, why then as Christians do we still need to practice these rules? Thank you for your time. I don't want to offend anyone with this question, but sometimes I just plain feel guilty for the things I've done. A lot of people say "you've already done it, whats the point of trying to stop doing the sin now, you aren't a virgin" Its like a slap in the face. I still want to obey God. So, does anyone ever feel guilty of their sins, or guilty for the sins they find themselves doing over again. and If I already had sex, is there anyway God will forgive and you can go on to not have sex untill marriage?

YES MADAM, i know for the first couple months i kept looking back to the past and just thought man look at that garbage man, how could i ever be forgiven or how could God care about me, and i struggled with Jesus for a bit because I was trying to be saved through works because i was not very educated at the time and i had all these things and voices attacking, but listen:

its okay to feel sorry for your sins, in fact its extremely good because it shows that you do care about what God says and you really are sorry, and two don't listen to people too often, even yourself because i realized how fallible we all are but instead listen to God and Jesus cause his account is greater and essentially AVOID sin, Jesus died and his spirit was born in us so we could be dead to sin and avoid it like the plague,

talk to Jesus about your guilt, tell him everything and he can and will help, even if you doubt he is sure and stable, ask for forgiveness and listen you should avoid sex till marriage because you know, its sin and just because you are no longer a virgin in the flesh doesn't made God can't purify your heart and mind, things that count more in my opinion.

Look what you have to do is say to Jesus, I lay this guilt at your feet and I thank you for freeing me from it. And then believe that he will because trust me he does and in the place of that guilt he gives you his peace. Anytime the devil tries to give you a guilt trip, dont bye into it. Each time you feel that way repeat what I told you to say and it takes affect each time in your heart, mind and soul. He doesn't want you to be trapped in the past and he will help you onto the right path. HE changes who you are inside. Nothing we do does usually. We are all human. We all fall down on our butts. No sinning isn't okay but each and every time he forgives us and helps us get a little bit stronger each time we fall. He changes the way you think and feel about everything. Its quiet beautiful these changes. Guilt for our past can really be a weapon the devil uses against us. You need to realize the more you seek God and try to live a pure walk for him the more the devil will use your past and your weaknesses against you. DO NOT BUY INTO HIS CRAP. He will do whatever he can to keep you from getting closer to God. Keep your chin up, when you fall down get back up and keep walking towards God. Perfection as a human being is an illusion. We will only be perfect when we are standing before God and he makes us perfect in him.

good points bekah, the devil is pretty bad i dunno how he works but the voices are liars man ask for Jesus strength or his blood, i know that if you pray about insecurities and how you feel it helps a lot in the spiritual fight.

we follow Gods law's because essentially he made them so we could live properly and as we were supposed to, and be under his grace and in his very presence and have a perfect life, of course we don't follow the old testament laws because that would deny Christ and his very purpose, but we follow the newer commands and such (plus some old ones) because they are standards to live by and to show the world that hey Christ is in me, and also because faith without works is dead; you really can't just do a bit of what you want to do because it suits you and the other stuff naw because its inconvenient, because you know, good deeds are what we shall be judged by in the judgement day, and also to show hey, i believe in the bible and what it says and the word of God. You can say you believe but you know the well known phrase actions speak louder than words, cause i know i may talk a lot sometimes and pray and say hey i will change, but if i really don't try or commit to it i am not really doing anything than deceiving myself

I would like to assure you that your sins have been forgiven you according to the Bible, and that at the moment you accepted by faith Jesus Christ as Lord and savior into your life, and Repented of your sins with sincerity, that you have been what the Bible refers to as ''Born Again.''

Romans 5:1 ''Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,''

2 Corinthians 5:17 '' Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.''

2 Corinthians 5:17 shows us that we are now New Creations in Christ, since we have become Born Again. Now that means that no matter what you have done in your past it has no affiliation with who you have now become thanks to Christ's redemptive work with his death on the cross...so you shouldn't feel like you are not acceptable because of what you did in the past.

Now when it comes to Gods grace we have to be cautious that we do not take advantage of it, we cannot continue to walk in sin...

Romans 6:1-4 ''What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? 3 Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.''

That bit of scripture states that we should not continue in sin, but that we should walk in newness of life.

We can also look at Romans 12:1-2

Romans 12:1-2 ''I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.''

We need to be transformed by the Renewing of our minds, and that would come about by reading Gods word and praying on a daily basis.

Jesus said in John 14:15 ''If you love Me, keep My commandments.''

Also we must consider what John said about truly knowing the Lord in the Book of 1 john.

1 John 2:3-4 ''Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.''

Being obedient to the commandments that Christ has given us is an essential part of being a Christian Aka [A Follower of Christ], because it shows that first of all we Love the Lord, and secondly that we truly know the Lord.

Nevertheless, if we do happen to transgress or (Sin Willfully) 1 John also tells us:

1 John 1:9 ''If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness''

1 John 2:1-2 ''My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.''

And lastly...

1 John 3:9 ''Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.''

1 John 3:9 is telling us that since we have become children of god, we cannot continue to go on sinning any longer, we must refrain from doing so.

I would just encourage you to Continue to seek the Lord each and every day and to read his word so that you can better understand the ways of God and his plan for each one of us. As well as not allow room for the enemy to come along and condemn you, because we all know he loves to do that. : P

God bless,

We live in a sinful body, our spirits though, are renewed. So it leaves us in a battle of what our flesh wants vs what our spirit wants. This is why we still sin, even after salvation.
Also, there are two ways of dealing with our sin. Conviction and condemnation/guilt. Conviction comes from the Holy Spirit, it reminds us we've done wrong, causes us to regret, in an attempt to bring us to repentance. And also helps us live in the grace of God. Where sin abounds, grace abounds even more.
Condemnation/guilt on the other hand is what beats us down. We can't forgive ourselves. We may even feel we need to punish ourselves, or feel unworthy of Gods grace. This is the voice of satan in your life. One brings regret, repentance and change. One brings guilt, punishment and a sense of failure. You need to fight off guilt. Don't let satan trick you into thinking God can't or won't forgive you. You are forgiven. Now forgive yourself. Learn from your mistakes, as opposed to wallow in your shame.

Far as 'practicing these rules', these are things we want to do as Christians. Desiring to do whats right is one of the proofs that we are born again and filled with the Spirit. We shouldn't be trying to do whats right because we have to, but because we want to honor God with how we live our lives. And part of that is that we have to understand that these 'rules' are in place to also protect us. A Christian who lives their whole life never falling into sexual sin never has the drama of STD's, abortion, unwanted pregnancy, single parenthood, battle over custody, etc etc... Think of how much different this world would be if everyone followed one simple rule, no sex until marriage. When God said thats how He wanted us to live, it was both to show Him honor with how we treat our bodies, but also to save us from all the misery and complications of having casual sex brings with it.

And yes, if you want to quit having sex, then quit. God will see that and respect and honor that decision. Your sins are forgiven by the very person you sinned against. Now its time for you to forgive yourself of the things God has already forgiven you of.
