Do you like celebrating Halloween? If so why? If not, why not? What does it mean to you? People are always saying they just like to go out for the candy but to me it's like "dining with the devil," my opinion. What's your's? I would love to hear it!!

We were never allowed to celebrate halloween growing up. I only went trick or treating once, my dad had left so my mom didnt really care what we did that year, that was the best halloween ever! aaaaaaaanyways. I let my daughter go trick or treating, she dresses up as a princess or disney characters, cute stuff like that. To me its only a night that kids get to go door to door getting candy.

When you lose a parent as I have, halloween is not a fun time.
Originally it was "All Hallows Eve" in England or All Saints Days (lA Toussaint in french) on November 1 being All Saints Day. The souSd of the departed were remembered in the Cathoiic church on Nov2 being All Souls" Day. The rest of what goes on toady is just fun for kids , so let them enjoy the candy . they will have to grow up one day .

I believe it's an evil holiday with an evil history. If you need proof, just go to any encyclopedia and look up the history of it. It is not just a fun, cute holiday. It is based on Satan. And while the little children wandering the streets may not be looking for evil, neither are the spelunkers in caves looking for cave-ins. While this may not be a good example, you can still see that whether or not the children know the history of it, the history is there nonetheless.

I remember in grade 7 & 8, whenever it was around Halloween the kindergarten teachers would bring thier little students to every class to show off thier costumes in a parade. I saw masks with little pumps that when they were squeazed blood would run down the mask..eww, skeletons, witches e.t.c. There is a halloween dance being planned in myschool right now and my friends are trying to get me to go!! I keep trying to tell them that I'm not going to go but they won't listen. Have you ever felt like you're the only one not doing something that everyone else is doing? I know i'm standing with God when it comes to this holiday but i'm only human. Of course i'm not going to fall that easily and start celebrating it but I wish I didn't feel so down about it!!

I don't even know way a true believer would question whether helloween is ok for a christian to celebrate. I heard a person that used to be in witchcrat talk and he said there are eight whitches Sabbath's also called black sabbath's and Holloween is one of them. The Bible says to come out from among these people and be ye separate!! Well I guess Christians think it is ok to listen to rock and metal and maybe just through in a couple of good words and call it Christian. What Jesus are we serving. Paul teaches about this in 2 Corinthians 11:4. The druid's would take a child form a home and sacrifice them to satan and in it's place they would put a jackel lantern!! Would it be ok to go around acting out fornication, homosexuality, or murder. No? Then why would it be ok to go around actiong out witchcraft. Timjim

Well.. Im from Slovakia and here we havent got any halloween... instead of that we have feast in which were going to graves of our families and friends and were praying for them, having mass for them and bringing flowers to their graves...
But in school we have halloween party, the same as in usa... i dont care much of it and i prefer to go visit graves...

If you guys can pray for my brother, that would be greatly appreciated. He loves to watch shows with wizards and spells. I try hard to get him to stop but i'm only human and he doesn't seem to respect the fact that i'm two years older then him so that isn't really working out very well. He's not into Halloween though which is good cause our family was raised not to celebrate it anyways. Thanks guys.....Love ya!!

Ligthen up a little a little people, if you're going to throw away halloween for it's pagan background, then you should also throw away almost all customs of the other holidays you celebrate.

including: christmas, and easter.

the christmas tree, the easter bunny, eggs, etc etc are all pagan things.

but, as we all know they don't hold the same meaning today, as they did when they were invented.

(ps. the church tends to steal a lot of concepts from other religions)

if for one night, kids dress up as ghosts and go door to door for candy, what harm is there in that?

it's not a pagan ritual, it's kids having fun.

in short: stop stroking your ego, get off your moral high horse, and eat some freaking candy

Agreed, although I wouldn't quite use such accusatory language.

I am and never was allowed to celebrate halloween.
As much as the thought of going round doors to get free candy was genreally very inviting. I can see why my dad and mum never really approved of us doing it. Not to mention it is rude lol. We never got sweets and we never gave out sweets.

But timjim - its not helloween its halloween as far as I am aware.
